During the 1950s and 60s girls who dressed or acted like boys and liked to play sports were accepted and called tomboys.

Boys who acted girlish were made fun of and called sissies.

It was normal for two girls,  a boy and a girl, or an older and younger boy to hold hands. It was inappropriate for two boys of the same approximate age to hold hands.

Girls would dance with you each either. Guys would never do that.

They don't need to feel that. They have had a man take away their reproductive rights right when they got their period.

I don’t know if this is really that accurate. I’ve read a lot of mid century Beat literature and the gays kind of did their thing and were left alone. There were cases of latent “straight” men bullying them but it wasn’t really the norm. Obviously the behavior was more taboo then than it is now.

I'm afraid beat generation literature doesn't even begin to tell the whole story.  Being gay in the 50s/early 60s was a pretty unpleasant experience for the most part.

Gays faced physical assault, verbal attacks, family rejection, loss of employment, imprisonment and even involuntary psychiatric hospitalization. 

This period was known as the "passing" where gays had to pass themselves off as something else in order to keep a job or secure a roof over their heads.
