Never knew the word “cyclist” could carry so much baggage. 

The funny thing is most people who ride bikes do not refer to themselves as “cyclists.”  They don't own a lightweight road bike or wear spandex outfits.  Many don’t wear a helmet or clip into their pedals while riding. They’ve simply discovered that a bike is a good, cheap way to get around town, such as commuting to work, running errands and visiting friends.  It's also a simple way to fit a little exercise into your daily routine.   

Meet this average Joe.  He’s not a cyclist.

A lot of adults in the neighborhood have bikes. Hardly ever see then ride them though. I did see my neighbor Chad on his the other night. But the ones I see out on the actual roads or more in the city look like they went out of their way to look like douchebags.

Anecdotal evidence baloney.  It's ok if people in your neighborhood don't ride their bikes.
