I actually like this guy on paper. Don't know if he can recruit, but we are not looking like we are going to get a high level P5 guy and maybe he can grow and learn on the job along with Chet.

I think Greer would be a great hire for us:

A) We are not getting P-5 Assistant imo
B) Dominican Pipeline (familiar with Domincan National Team already), keeps current player/players happy.
C) NY Bred - Might be a huge + for us, as it was with OA.
D) Played and starred at Pitt, more East Coast connections
E) Learned under Howland/Grant...(worse options out there)
F) Recruiter already (Toppin as stated)


Most importantly, I would be surprised if OA hasn't had a hand in suggesting or assisting in this happening, if indeed it does.

It has dawned on the Loyalty crowd, who were certain a Charlton Young announcement was imminent, that he is still actively tweeting about the new recruits and the NBA alumni of the FSU program.
Duh.
Like I said- doesn't look like a guy on his way out.

I am guessing that Greer is making only about $150-$200K.
We should be able to pry him away. We could do a lot worse.

Illinois head coach Brad Underwood announced Friday that Geoff Alexander has been elevated to assistant coach. Alexander moves to an on-court coaching and recruiting position after spending the last four seasons on the Fighting Illini staff as assistant to the head coach.

I remember Underwood saying the interest he’s gotten for the assistant positions is overwhelming. This screams of it....🙄

Literally an alum who would’ve taken the job for free and an inside hire who’s not much of a recruiter. I’m blown away by the hires. Really don’t think we can do much better than what we ended up with. Might actually be better than OA and Chin honestly.....

Fuck this shit! So we hiring Nick Irvin too or what?! He’d slide right in where Alexander left open. What a shitshow this is.

Yeah- we are clearly scrambling. We need a legit recruiter.
We should sneak into the tourney in 21/22 even w/o Kofi, and maybe do better than the collapse this year. That would help.

We will still get some Top 150 kids (anybody on this board could do that if they have a cell phone and by virtue of having BT rides to hand out) but I worry about roster construction,  and it will be more on the 150 end of continuum than the 50 end of the spectrum.
