Kimani Young got caught with 96 lbs of reefer in 1999  and spent a year in prison. He overcame that and it is not an issue.

Dalonte Hill did 60 days in 2013 on DUI related charges.  Would that rule him out? He was once the highest paid assistant in the country and had / has extensive contacts.
Got it. This puts your earlier comment in a different, and forgiving, light.
TY.

An alleged insider elsewhere intimated Snacks could not have been considered even if available because of character issues. Apparent reference to his misdemeanor possession of marijuana arrest in 2015?

how dare he carry the devils lettuce and get caught!!!

"Character issues" seems to translate to that category of successful coaches whose experience includes navigating a space known as "grey areas" to the Kathi types.

If we legalized it I'm not seeing the character issue with possession.

We should use this to our advantage.

We need some GOOD news, and soon. We are at DEFCON level 2.
"He commented more than once that, 'You know, Hitler did some good things, too,'" Kelly recalled to The Times. Kelly said he would usually quash the conversation by saying "nothing (Hitler) did, you could argue, was good," but that Trump would occasionally bring up the topic again.

I don't buy they have this covered,we are elite and taking our time,  and they play it close to the vest bullshit. We are not elite, and they have nothing firm. We have 2 open slots and nobody incoming right now.
There are always leaks.

We are clearly struggling here.

I want the slot(s) filled but I’d rather they shoot for the stars, take their time, and get the right guy. Hopefully Frazier can keep the commits on board in meantime.

I agree with that in theory, but we are having trouble getting any of the supposed top picks to consider making the change (K. Young who OA suggested, Mennenga, Powell, Huss, Pinkins, C. Young, etc).
We need to be objective and not fans and acknowledge that this is simply a tougher sell than one might think for attracting already established high level P5 guys. Might need to focus on rising assistants at P5 wanting to move up if we can't snag one of these types.

Challenges are:

-Small town Rural Illinois location.
-Chicago recruiting is a shithole sleazy knife fight over overrated prima donnas.
-BT is all slobbering over the same regional kids in midwest
-The elite recruits get courted by bluebloods, of course.
-A lot of parity in league and pretty tough highly scouted league overall
-Shit weather pretty much year round
-Rednecks everywhere downstate if you are POC and you have to consider your family.
-We will not likely push the rules as far as a few other schools might.
-I don't know if eligibility admission is an issue anymore. It used to be somewhat. I am out of the loop on that these days.

Of course we are certainly an historically respected successful program overall, have a good group returning, a fairly decent head coach who seems personable, and are in solid second tier of P5 and trying to move back up to first tier.
Hopefully we get a guy(s) who can help pull us back off the cliff of being just in the pack.

Frazier is no doubt a passionate guy. Have to see how he connects with kids. Pretty serious mthfcker. Has its place. Does not strike me as necessarily charismatic, or a lot of fun, but Rob probably knows him better than most.
Hopefully he will work out well for us.

I have no insight but I also wonder how poisoned the well is against BU right now.

I mean Whitman and Underwood aren’t going after mid major guys, they are trying to get proven coaches from successful high majors to essentially make a lateral (at best) move for a pay raise. Florida, Oregon and Creighton have all been better programs than Illinois the past 15 years or so. We poached Frazier (an alum, granted) from an ACC program that’s made the tourney four of the last five seasons. Va Tech is eying a high school coach to replace him.
