TY. Did you write the 'expert take' ?
JK.
Whatever Kofi decides, I hope it works out best for him but the staff needs to use Kofi's rise from a soccer player to a possible NBA pick in 5 years. Take Kofi's willingness to work and learn as a recruiting tool.

LOL. I think they are right. He is what he is and he is pretty damn good at what he does. I think he can improve his face up and passing. Footwork agility- not so much.

Kofi’s development was one of the main reasons Jobu Payne wanted to come here.

Jobu is pretty athletic kid. Have to admit it was good move to take a flyer on him.
Might just work out OK.

Interesting read about Miller.

I’d agree that Miller didn’t look like a top-30 player, but I think this is too harsh. I doubt Underwood didn’t want to recruit Miller, even a little bit.  There is a lot of talent there.  I have trouble seeing Miller as an NBA player, but he has the look of a really good college player to me.

The article had some decent info.

I tend to agree with you that he looked like a decent Top 75-100 guy with nice potential.

The idea that Underwood didn't want to recruit Miller is nonsense. And for that matter, he's reconning the Griffin recruitment.

Miller looked liked a good freshman playing second fiddle to an All-American playing Miller's natural position. He was better than Brandon Paul as a freshman and Paul was an all-conference level player who stuck in the league for a year.

He's not a 5-star or lottery pick and it's unfair to him to pretend otherwise.

It’s times like these I really miss spark because he’d point out that Miller actually put up better numbers as a true freshman starting on a Top 3 team than most other players ranked in his range. He also did it playing against one of toughest schedules in the country.

That all said, he doesn’t appear to me to have the ceiling of a top 35-40 type kid. He’s small and not long, not a particularly good athlete and is a surprisingly poor ball handler for someone his size.

Would be interested to see the numbers with him on the floor.
His shooting for 3 was decent, but not a big threat really. Only had 13 threes in last 11 games. (13/40 for 32%).

I think the surprising thing was as you stated- his lack of showing more game overall. His PER was 9.5.
Damonte was 15.1. Curbelo was 18. Grandison was 17.9. Frazier 12.5. etc.

Nobody made him stand in the corner and never attack closeouts. He just isn't good at it at this level yet at all.
Will improve I am sure.

Yes to all.

He looked much better than a 75-100 guy. I’d put him more around the 50-ish range based on most years. He was very ready to come in and contribute, but his ceiling is not super high.

I would disagree. He was pretty over matched on defense and became Ok toward end of year. He could not really penetrate to dish or get his own shot, did not show he could really finish, did not really rebound.
You know - basketball player things.

He was strictly a catch and shoot guy who produced a little bit.
Take out that stat padding opening game scrimmage versus NC School for the Blind and he shot 31% from three for the year. 46/145.

He will get better in his career, but if you asked me without knowing his ranking I would say somewhere in the 75-150 range actually and a kid with potential as he developed some game.

We were better with other guys on the floor IMO. He got 26 mpg which was quite a bit more than he probably deserved.

All just my opinion which is not worth much. He will make some other team happy down the road if he develops I am sure.
