Riddle me this: why are Pitino and Miller great college basketball coaches?

Recruiting mostly, but that’s the key for any coach. Pitino has been a great program builder since his early days. Pitino can coach. Why, are you saying CBB has been cleaned up? A guy like Pitino is a made man, like Calipari. Probably doesn’t need to cheat to the level he used to. I mean, I know Underwood is great, and does things “the right way,” but is this really necessary?

They’ve done a great job of getting great players by skirting the NCAA rules and got caught doing it. Pitino lost his job for it. Arizona is basically in neutral right now until things get sorted.

You seem to be under the assumption that these guys can just relocate and replicate previous success as if nothing happened. There are a few examples that support your thought process but not sure any of them were as egregious in their violations.

I’m also pretty sure Underwood has played pretty deep in the gray area but may have had his leash shortened.

I’m glad you pointed that out. Sampson got a 5 year show-cause for impermissible phone calls. Miller got taped discussing 100k payment for DeAndre Ayton.

They have the talent to do it. Drew has been pretty good overall over his career, but not known as a finisher. He probably needs this win more than anyone.
