Agreed.

Also, teams led by a freshman don’t usually go that far in March. I don’t remember many examples of a team that relied so heavily on a single freshman winning the championship. Even Melo’s Syracuse team relied a lot less heavily on him than some people seem to think nowadays.

The only reason they scare me a little is that we seem to have problems defending big, athletic guards.

During its 2003 championship run, Syracuse scored 462 points in 6 NCAA tournament games. Melo scored 121 of them (26.19%).

Freshmen Pervis Ellison (1986 Louisville) & Anthony Davis (2012 UK) were Final Four Most Outstanding Player of their respective NCAA championship teams. Of course, any time a team wins a championship, it's not just because of the efforts of one player.

In losing efforts, Mark Aguirre (1978-79 DePaul, lost in Final Four to Indiana State), Wayman Tisdale (1984-85 Oklahoma, lost to Memphis in Regional Final), Mike Conley, Jr. and Greg Oden (2006-07 Ohio State, lost to Florida in National Championship), and Derrick Rose (2007-08 Memphis, lost to Kansas in National Championship) come to mind.

Jesus Christ. I turned it off. UCLA looked like shit. Down about 7-9 most of second half and nothing working.
Glad that little fuck is out. He got into fight with his own guy Brown in tunnel in first half. Screaming grabbing his jersey from behind chasing after him. Little piece of shit.

And just in from my Sparty bro ...
Looks like Sparty just ran out of gas after the toll of playing thug ball to get their fucking asses in. He didn't include the last part tho, lol.
And playing after midnight.

Maybe they should have told Warren that they required a day game.
Sissoko played a clean 3 minutes, so Sparty has something to hang their hats on.

Fuck Izzo

Has Underwood ever grabbed a player like that? I remember hoping he would beat the shit out of Mark Smith, but I don't think it ever happened.

Only in Tempo's mind.

From an AP story in today's fishwrap ....

Illinois was a powerhouse once, but its last trip to the Final Four was in 2005, and that came nearly a decade after Lou Henson left and brought an end to a golden era for Illini hoops. Underwood said when he arrived four years ago, he did an informal poll of his players to start each season, asking them which team in the Big Ten plays the hardest.
“They would all say it’s Michigan State. Michigan State, Michigan State, Michigan State,” Underwood said. “Then, it was start of last year, before they finally figured out what I wanted to hear. They finally said ‘Us.’ They had to start believing that.”
