SFA had BU’s period there vacated due to academic admin allowing ineligible players to play across many sports. Add that to the assistant issue at OSU, BU’s hasty exit to IL, OSU’s pending NCAA appeal, and Illinois’ ascension to the national spotlight, and it’s unfortunately become a pretty common meme across the collegebasketballverse.
Before the old HQ shut down we had some guys that kinda knew the recruiting scene and made it pretty clear Illinois was playing the gray areas. I’ve always personally felt and even mentioned before at the old board that I thought Underwood would be more likely to leave Illinois due to NCAA problems than failing to win enough. Not that I think he’s necessarily dirty but more so that he’s just not the kind of guy that’s going to do things like Weber did. He’s going to push every boundary for any kind of advantage. There have been some rumors of Whitman stepping in and mediating in some of the big recruiting battles they’ve been involved in.
