Kicked their asses and the punk Mulcahy got hit with a tech and fouled out. It was a good day.

Nice win. I actually was a little worried about this game since they beat us earlier.

Glad to see that headbanded bitch Mulchahy get owned.

Down goes Baylor. We can creep up if we win the BTT. I have been saying it for the last month, I DO NOT want Oklahoma State in our bracket.

If we win the BTT, I think we would be the #2 overall seed.

If Iowa wins tonight and beats us tomorrow, they could knock us down to the 2 line.

I remember all those lean years where we were the underdog looking to get a revenge win or punch a ticket to the dance. Sometimes we did it against a team that was better than us.

This game worried me. Rutgers isn’t bad. Iowa worries me. It’s always a tight game. Michigan worries me. We bitch slapped them last time but they can play great ball. Ohio State a third time worries me. Those games were wars. Every game forward worries me. Since my Illini basketball consciousness began in the late 80s I have seen Illinois fall flat and disappoint too many times on the big stage.

These guys look locked in. I watched a ton of 04-05 replays this last week and while I always remembered those guys for how much fun they were having playing basketball, I was surprised when I actually saw the opposite in those replays.

Sure, there were some fist bumps and Dee flashing his jersey and orange mouthpiece, but they were actually very workmanlike. Methodical. Subdued. Much more #everydayguys than this Illini team. Looking back with 20/20 hindsight, it’s easy to see how Weber overcoached his later teams into a brain freeze when he didn’t have a group of pros.

These guys look like they’re having a fuckload of fun. And they’re actually even more fun to watch.

Right now we look like we should run through this field. We will see.

Agree. But Iowa

I don't like the fact that Iowa shot horribly today. Supposedly the background there is not good.
If they go like 12-25 tomorrow from 3 it could be tough night.

Rutgers made two. Tyler Underwood made one.

Relying on the three-point shot seems like a bad strategy in that room.

So ... yes. 12 of 25 would be disastrous.

Before this year's Big Ten Conference Tournament began, every other team in the league thought, "Crap, we have to (try and) beat Illinois to win the championship".

1st edit:

Some here probably have reservations about this team's chances of winning it all, in part because, well, Illinois. I get it. I'm not an Illinois homer -- y'all know that. This Illinois team is good. Really good. They remind me of 2006-07 Ohio State (Greg Oden, Mike Conley Jr.. Ron Lewis), a team that made it to the NCAA Finals, losing to defending champ Florida. The Illini are more experienced than that Buckeye squad; Oden, Conley Jr. and Daequan Cook were freshmen. For Illinois, it's going to come down to health, the draw and FT shooting.

2nd edit:

By winning it all, I'm talking NCAA Championship. Remember, third time's the charm.

One game at a time.
It's not like we're a good free throw shooting team, don't turn the ball over, or can shoot a team out of a zone at will.
This team seems to play off energy that starts on defense. Bring that for 40 minutes.
Still hiding behind innuendo and practicing the art of omission.

We seem to be focused on defending the 3.  So far, so good.  Many of the players today aren't that skilled to hit the traditional 2's.  Case in point, DW.
