FFS man people can go out and eat even in California and Illinois and we need to lock down young healthy college basketball players that are getting tested every single day when they haven’t even had a positive test? Players who aren’t even being allowed to really even interact with people outside their team? College or pro basketball is probably one of the safest things a person could be doing in regard to Covid risk.
And spare me the lecture about how “we” didn’t do anything to spread the risk. Millions of people (most of whom weren’t even at risk) locked down and locked down hard. Tens of thousands of businesses closed and will never reopen. Mental health is a national crisis. We ballooned the national debt by printing money to offset the enormous economic damages caused by the lockdowns. Don’t say we didn’t try JFC.
Those people eating out in restaurants aren’t going to be spending an hour and a half in face to face maskless contact with a bunch of other people in a couple of days. Again, it’s not about whether the kids are healthy, it’s about containment.
And I say “we” because this shit is like a baseball game. It doesn’t matter if you or I go 5-5, if the rest of the team sucks balls, we still lose. Yes, plenty of people are doing the right thing, but plenty of people aren’t. I don’t know where you live, but I see careless shit daily. When you get into more rural areas, it’s a free for all. In central Illinois, there are even people who boycott businesses that have mask requirements.
The people who are careless are ruining it for everyone. I have sacrificed a ton, and I’m getting sick of doing it while seeing other people carrying on as though nothing is wrong. If everyone would wear masks and take a little care, maybe we could open more stuff up and relax restrictions so that more people could work, there would be fewer mental health problems, and we wouldn’t need to take on trillions more debt for relief.
