I agree about Baylor.  Thankful that we wont' meet them before FF if the seeding/chalk plays out.

Baylor has lost their edge, but they could get it back in first couple NCAA games.
They are damn good for sure.

How wild is it that Illinois staff is wearing Mike Slive Foundation pins on their shirts?

Maybe I’m nuts but I still am more concerned about Baylor than Gonzaga. They’re a very tough matchup for us. Gonzaga hasn’t seen a team built and playing like us all season.
Illini are playing their best ball now.  One loss in the last two months.

Baylor may have peaked in midseason.   Gonzaga hasn't played anyone in months, so it's hard to know what they actually are.

Raftery said it today - this team has so many ways to beat you.  I think they're going to run the field like shit through a goose.

Which is hilarious because if the refs actually called a good game today, Garza would have fouled out in the first 10 minutes of the first half. He also could have had 2 flagrant fouls called on him for elbowing Kofi in the head. Also, the refs missed a flagrant 2 on Bohannon literally shoving Curbelo at the freethrow line in the 2nd half. The refs were trash, but they gave Iowa plenty of opportunity.

if Bama wins tomorrow or Ohio St do either of them replace Michigan?

Illinois will beat Ohio State in the Big Ten Championship Game tomorrow. The Illini are the better, bigger and healthier team. Ohio State will likely be missing Kyle Young (again). The Buckeyes will be playing their 4th game in 4 days, 1 more than Illinois. That doesn't help OSU.

Illinois has guards who can break down defenses and create for others, a shot-blocker / dominant low post scorer, and good 3 point shooting. Have some faith in this team when you make your bracket picks.

Baylor may have peaked in midseason.

They had actual COVID. Not just contact, or positive tests.

Who knows how much it affected their conditioning, and how many of them had severe symptoms.

Congratulations to Illinois for living in a non-red, reality-based community.

We should win against the buckeyes. But if Washington and Lidell are hot, and Kofi gets in foul trouble or we get cold shooting - it can be lost. One game at a time.

Playing at a super high level right now for sure. But every time I start feeling cocky I remember it was only a month ago we needed a comeback and OT to beat Nebraska and 2 weeks ago MSU straight up beat us. Literally. Or all the other nut punch moments of Illini fandom.

But yeah if these guys can keep playing at this level there are so many special stories still to be written in an already incredibly special season.

IL now 3rd in KenPom behind Gonzaga...and behind Michigan by slimmest of margins. Imagine a comfortable win over OSU tomorrow would bump us to second, FWIW.

Remember this was a team KenPom didn’t like nearly as much as pollsters and fans did before the season started. Turns out the algorithm was pretty spot on as we quickly slid down the polls to pretty much exactly  where KP had us pegged before the season. A lot of people saw Ayo and Kofi as All Americans and got boners but forgot we were replacing some pieces and relying heavily on freshmen that didn’t get the normal season ramp up.

Once the new guys got their feet under them, Grandison entered the starting lineup, and Kofi started attacking the rim like it fucked his girlfriend, this team has just improved by leaps and bounds. We have won 13 of 14 and won/covered last 6 games meaning we consistently keep outperformed what we’re already high expectations.
