Michigan keeps messin around and their lock #1 might not be a lock.

And the Illini win the B1G regular season title by half a game.

Frankly I'm all for us bowing out of the big ten tournament.  Way too high of a risk for us with absolutely no reward. 8K people all under 1 roof for 4 straight games has to be the dumbest fucking idea yet from Kevin Warren and company.

Illinois got the conference title at 14-3 and Michigan was 16-4, Michigan fans would lose their fucking shit. Kevin Warren continues to do a shitty job as commissioner.

Brad has it right, really. The regular season “title” doesn’t really mean anything. They finished half a game behind us. We have more good wins. We finished stronger. We dominated them on their home court. We have a stronger SOS. We will be ranked above them tomorrow. But they won the regular season.

I thought about the games ahead earlier also.
If they would have tested out, and Warren says percentage, so be it. They didn't test out.

#2 seed Illinois gets 2 byes in the Big Ten Tournament (as do the other Top 4 seeds). So the Illini would have to win 3 straight games to claim the championship.

While I understand why you might think that way, the team needs to play a few games in the Big Ten Tournament to stay sharp. If I was head coach, I would not make winning the conference tournament championship a priority at this point. If it happens, it happens. Rather, I'd want to make sure the rotation is set and key players are rested & healthy. Oh, and work on free throw shooting.

And hope the team doesn’t get COVID or their face broken. They should just cancel the damn thing

Agreed. The team has to do what is necessary to keep their 1-seed secure though. I guess they could forfeit their first game. Wonder how the selection committee would treat that?

IMO the only way we could maybe drop out of a 1 is if Iowa wins BTT by drubbing us and MI along the way. But they very well might take MI’s #1 rather than ours in that scenario. I just don’t like this whole BTT setup.

Do you not remember that guy?
No. I know he was on the FF team, but I don’t know why I don’t remember him. He’s a pretty good player.

I think you're right it would be difficult to lose.  Outside of Iowa, Alabama, or Kansas winning their conference tournaments, I don't see how there's even a discussion over it.  Even so, I have no problem being a #2 seed or even a 3# seed at this point.

The good news is Illinois plays the 9th game of this tournament.  So there could be issues with other teams before they even get to our game.  So this could help protect our exposure if it indeed does become an issue.
