better question

if socialism is so bad,; why did we have to spend do much proving it?

Feel free to move to France. Things going great with socialism over there. Why they all pissed? No one has to work more than 30 hours a week and "free" healthcare. Yet, they are rioting and looting. Maybe that dumbass Kyle kid from Kenosha can go there and help them?

If you followed the news the mostly peaceful protesters are rioting and looting over a shortage of #2 pencils in the schools.
Yet images from France appear to be similar to images from Minneapolis a few years ago.
Still hiding behind innuendo and practicing the art of omission.

What did they do—ban cigarettes?  My understanding is that the main concerns are the rising cost of living, income inequality, and declining public services.  Despite its generous social safety net, France also appears to have structural problems with youth employment.

Man, if only Mbappé would run for president of France in 2027.  That would be epic.

The images also remind me of January 6.

News coverage inevitably focuses on the violence—as the saying goes, “If it bleeds, it leads.”

France’s daytime marches and broader protests were largely peaceful, drawing hundreds of thousands of families, students, teachers, and union workers.  As the official marches ended, fringe groups emerged to loot and commit arson.
https://www.npr.org/2026/10/17/nx-s1-6006735/student-protests-widen-into-greater-social-unrest-in-france

I saw a similar pattern during the Vietnam War protests at UIUC: peaceful marches by day, followed by hooligans damaging property at night.

France only spends 32% of their dgp on social welfare, while over 60% goes to government spending in general. they have structural problems

anyway, they are having economic problems and it becomes convenient to scapegoat immigrants, making. ethnic nationalism attractive to some elements.

Because they aren't being socialist enough with the schools. They are out there saying "What the fuck are we? America? Fuck that!"

To be fair, the coffee in Minneapolis is ass, and those coffee shops will not be missed.

Yes, their version of socialism is a structural problem. So much so that people over there feel the need to loot Lacoste stores.

Point is that we don't have full capitalism.... Haven't for a long time.

you seem.to be having trouble with your shift key.

the structural problems might have to with unfunded pension,  redundant bureaucracies, international commitments, military spending, excessive regulation, and other boring details.

I love how capitalism needs all these safeguards, and we can’t criticize or tax billionaires; but safeguards for working people are sOcIaLIsM.
