Wish I could find a way to add Eddie Johnson to the list.   Remember his buzzer beater vs Magic Johnson/MSU in 1979.   Unfortunately the euphoria didn’t last long.  The PG got injured and the team went 4-11 the rest of the way.

the late Mark Smith from Peoria Richwoods was actually.  better basketball player than EJ. He just liked to party too much. EJ became a very good shooter.

Ken "Snake" Norman is another one worth mentioning. . He was more of a  3 -4 tweener -- a strong inside player.

I think EJ is on record saying Mark Smith was the more complete player.  But I think Eddie passed Smith up in his senior year.

Ken Norman was a load.   I still remember him dropping to the floor burying his head in disbelief after Austin Peay upset the Illini in the first round of the NCAA tournament in 87.

Surprised nobody’s mentioned Deon Thomas yet.
Because FOX News told me so…

I wish we had Lucas Johnson on this team although in today’s game he’d probably foul out in about 2-3 mins of game time. But maybe he lays out a guy like Ron Harper Junior on a breakaway layup in that space of time and completely alters the entire game.

Good point. Now that you bring up Deon I think about Kofi. Deon was more skilled obviously but both dominant bigs in college with minimal NBA prospects. Sadly Deon’s career here will always be tainted the scandal and declining success of the program. I can’t know what actually happened but it seems a shame an 18 year old (and the Illini program) bore the brunt of the fallout while Bruce Pearl is still making millions after being outed as cheating piece of shit on multiple occasions. In the real world when these kinds of trends are established over time sometimes people like Pearl get punished and the people they victimized are vindicated. But, per usual, money.

Pearl is swine and that's being nice.  It does happen in business and politics which are both about money.  Sad....

Actually, in the real world pieces of shit like Pearl are even more prevalent, and thrive with near total impunity in our dysfunctional failed democracy experiment corrupted by unfettered capitalism.
Just last week the Queens hillbilly criminal carnival was discussing invoking martial law to somehow overturn an election in order to stay in power and continue to fleece America under the cover of faux populism using ignorant white grievance rubes.

We have nearly 350,000 dead from a pandemic in nine months, economic devastation, world chaos.....and the stock market is up 20% this year.   You might already know that 84% of the stock market is owned by upper 10% of the country.

Yeah it literally makes me sick to my stomach every time I see that POS. It baffles me how he can still be employed. ESPN and all these programs continue to suck his dick and it’s sickening.
