They may get in with NET or quad wins, or something. 2 wins vs top 5 teams in 3 days may go a long way.
xxxx is playing well. Bucknuts struggling.
Still hiding behind innuendo and practicing the art of ommision.

Idk it’s a weird year most teams didn’t get to pad their records with a large non conference schedule, the B1G is extremely tough and deep and just as an example Illinois made the tourney as a 7 seed with an 8 win B1G team in 2013.

The converse (RIP Lou!) is the annual smorgasbord of paper tigers who enter the tournament with a dazzling record, then get bounced by a team that's played worthwhile competition.

Well, I think MSU is better at this point than Indiana or Minnesota who have no business getting in either.
BT is somewhat over rated. UM and then 3 other very good teams at top for sure and S16 or better capable. The rest are just filler at best and then some are garbage.

Every metric available demonstrates the conference is historically great this year.

Three teams are vying for a 1 seed and Iowa is still fighting for a potential 2 seed as March arrives.

The same exact team that finished strong to win the B1G last year is a fading middle of the pack team this year.

It’s easy to forget Minnesota absolutely manhandled Michigan, Maryland is going to be a handful at their seed, Purdue has really rounded into form, Rutgers (on a good night) can play with anyone in the country, etc.

It’s easy to see all the flaws in the B1G teams but having watched other conference games it looks like minor leagues aside from maybe the SEC.

I would respectfully disagree.
Its all relative.
I think the fact college basketball is overall weaker might make the BT look better comparatively than previous years.
That doesn't make the BT great.

The Illinois team at end of year last year would beat this Illinois team more often than not. More consistent execution on both sides of ball and more prepared and tougher mentally and physically each night.

You think we are historically great? We just had 20 TOs versus a very unathletic Wisconsin team that has not beaten a Top 25 team all year unless you want to count midmajor Loyola.
The BT should have 2 or 3 pretty good, not great teams do well in tourney. The fact that 8-9 get in the field is simply a reflection on overall college BB.

I do not see a great team in the BT, or nationally.
Just my opinion.

LOL. I know. I have been watching and playing and coaching basketball since the early 60's. This isn't good BB overall in my opinion and I am big proponent of modern metrics and the shift to analytics.
A few very good teams and a lot of not so good teams.

But as far as lack of fundamentals- I can be an old man yelling at clouds. Guilty.

The Wisconsin game set basketball back 60 years I think. We threw it away nearly 1/3 of our 73 possessions.
I love Curbello. Did not love his pass to nobody.

The BTT will be must see TV, from start to finish.  There will be upsets!

yeah the Wisco game was hard on the eyes, we do have quite a bit of youth on the team that doesn't quite understand yet what they can and can't do... there's no denying their talent however

AAU ball has pretty much ditched the fundamentals and promoted athleticism and dunk or 3 ball style play, not necessarily what will translate into NCAA success

totally agree though that most kids these days have a severe lack of fundamentals (triple threat position, boxing out, passing, and dribbling especially) but thankfully those can be learned throughout college careers... nothing annoys me more than a pick and roll where the guard never uses the pick and just goes the totally wrong direction... lol happens about 80% of the time these days

I would say this is the best the big ten has been in a very long time, entertaining basketball most nights, but overall college hoops has been declining since the 2000's

15-20 years ago it seemed like the most impactful players in college basketball often became future NBA all stars. In this day and age the most impactful players are often well- developed fundamentally sound 3-4 year players who more or less hit their ceiling in college. It’s pretty clear that the one and done era hasn’t been good for overall talent level in NCAA basketball.

There were parts of the Wisconsin game that certainly weren’t pretty but we scored 74 in a win @ Kohl...how quickly we’ve forgotten those 40-50 point rock fights against Wisconsin and the like where a 6 point deficit felt like 16.

Brad wants IL to play fast and with that you’ll get some head scratching turnovers (esp from young players) but it also generates a lot of points in transition, offers freedom to create, wears down the other team, and is an exciting brand of basketball that kids want to play for. Gotta take the good with the bad imo.
