Quote
Illinois (2-2, 0-1 Big Ten) vs. Purdue (1-3, 0-1 Big Ten)
Date | Time   Saturday, Oct. 3 | 3:15 p.m. CT
Location   Champaign, Illinois (Gies Memorial Stadium){TURN BACK, JUDGE JUDY!}
TV   Big Ten Network
Radio   Busey Bank Illini Sports Network | SiriusXM (257)

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Illinois' 116th Homecoming football game is set for Saturday at Gies Memorial Stadium with Purdue making the trip to Champaign for a 3:15 p.m. CT kickoff. The Fighting Illini and Boilermakers will battle for The Cannon rivalry trophy for the 77th time. {IT SHOULD BE A REAL CANNON, NOT THE DAMN TOY CANNON}

Saturday marks the 102nd meeting between Illinois and Purdue in the overall series dating back to 1890. Illinois is looking to even the all-time series, as Purdue holds a 48-47-6 advantage. {SAD! BUT TYPICAL!}

Purdue leads The Cannon series 42-32-2 since the trophy debuted in 1943. {THIS IS BULLSHIT!} The Fighting Illini have won The Cannon in back-to-back years and look to keep trophy in Champaign for three consecutive seasons for the first time since a six-year run from 1988-93.

Chris Vosters (play-by-play){LASTED ONLY 2 YEARS AS BLACKHAWK ANNOUNCER - SOMEONE ON THE BROADCAST APPARENTLY HATED HIM}, Anthony Herron (analyst), and Dannie Rogers (reporter) {SHE LOOKS EASY ON THE EYES; WORKED FOR DETROIT'S LIONS} have the national television broadcast on Big Ten Network. The state-wide Busey Bank Illini Sports Network has the radio call with Brian Barnhart (play-by-play), Carey Davis (analyst), and Kevin Mitchell (reporter) on the call.

Homecoming
• Saturday's Fighting Illini football game vs. Purdue is the final activity in a week-long celebration of Illinois alumni returning to campus. Homecoming week at Illinois celebrates its 116th year of Illinois traditions.
• Friday's Homecoming parade begins at 6 p.m. at Fourth and Kirby. A full calendar is available at homecoming.illinois.edu.
• The 2026 Homecoming Grand Marshal is former Illini football captain and retired NASA astronaut Mike Hopkins. Hopkins will also be the siren sounder at Saturday's game. {HE IS GOING TO WISH HE WAS BACK IN SPACE WATCHING THIS ONE!}
• Illinois boasts being one of the first universities to celebrate Homecoming, a tradition on almost every college campus. It was conceived in 1909 by students C.F. Williams and W. Elmer Ekblaw, members of the Shield and Trident senior society. They joined with another society, Phoenix, to organize the three-day event. The first Homecoming celebrated on Illinois' campus was on Oct. 15, 1910, which the Illini won 3-0 over Chicago. {YAY, US!}
• Illinois has won back-to-back Homecoming games (2024 Central Michigan, 2025 USC) and three of its last four Homecomings. The Illini are looking for three straight Homecoming wins for the first time since 2000-02.

Notes

Going to be a wonderful Homecoming afternoon! Reminds me of the game back in 19 and 27 where Illinois beat Michigan 14 - 0 in front of 63,101. The last one was Babe! The Wolverines were sucking on lemons after that one. Some sassy flapper was sucking on Babe and my lemons in the East Hall! She could suck the bumper off a Model T.

Brent: Jimmy, you missed on the point spread but had the over.
Jimmy: Yeah, the OSU defense was not elite. Illinois ran up the yards, but not the scores. Meanwhile, the Illinois DC should have quit at halftime! Another miserable performance.
Brent: You say the same thing every week. Because it has been true.
Jimmy: New DC. Who is it? It has to be Bielema, right? Hopefully he does not eat the game plan!
          This game started with the Illini 10.5 favs. Down to 10! Boilers started +305 on the money line. Still hovering around that mark within $5. Illinois -370 and up to -390 depending upon your house. Over/under 59 start and now up to 61.5-62.5! Whitman better have paid the fireworks bill this week.
           Illini 2-2 ATS. Boilermaker 1-3 ATS. Illini and Boilermaker each 4-0 on the over.  Expect no defense to be played.

It is bullshit that the New York Football Giants would not give up a 1st round draft pick to the Chiefs to get Justin Fields! If Justin Fields was still the Bears QB, they would have won the Super Bowl last year and would be undefeated this year. Would be scoring 60 points a game with Ben Johnson leading Fields! Poles is an idiot! I am never wrong!

Tip your Uber and Lyft drivers! We get the money tax free due to Trump! Thanks, Trump for raising my standard of living so I can still pay for gas! That is why I still support Trump by listening to 670 The Score and using Facebook and X!

Lot 46 Tailgate update:

Tailgate neighbor said at the SIU game he was going to bring chili. I will make some cornbread to bring over. Probably will bring some kosher hot dogs and burgers to grill and carbs and beer.  And cigars. Always need carbs, beer, and cigars.

Does the Abe still hold a sign with a message on it? I haven’t been by there in months.

May run up for this game!

No sign lately. Did have a USA 250 sign up earlier this year.

Let me know if you are going to appear. I may bring some non-carbs if you are bringing children....

Decided not to go. Whatever PAMan has might be contagious. Also, going to see an actual good Orange and Blue team at Levi's

I always bring our own food too, so don’t worry about that. Hotels are absolutely outrageous, and there’s a little Airbnb downtown that I usually get when I stay in Champaign that’s been booked already. Tickets are cheap, at least. Going to sleep on it and see how I feel come the weekend
