The writing on the wall would seem to read, we may have an Underwood in charge for quite some time:
Brad Underwood under contract until 2030-2031-Plenty of bonus in play to keep him happy over and above his 4.4 salary which will increase.
That contract would take him to about 67yrs old....how long will he coach? Say he runs the length of the contract and no longer, at that time, Tyler Underwood would be about 35 years old with having these years on the bench, literally Brad's left hand man?
Does Tyler get the gig, as Auburn and a few others have done? Does Antigua fill a small gap 2-5 years then Tyler takes over?
With the way the current staff can isolate and recognize talent, I would say it may end up being an no brainer for Tyler to assume the role, even if it will be his first HC role? I mean what does talent identifying, getting players that fit, running/coordinating the #1 offense in the country get you?
Fun to look forward to the ILLINI future in the midst of what I believe very well may be a historical year.....Underwood has gotten the ILLINI back to exactly what he thought he could when he was hired. KUDO'S we as fans are loving it.
