Maybe the grass wasn't greener in Winston-Salem and Washington thinks he may get more playing time in C-U ? Was transferring a reaction to Lovie leaving ?
It's not as tho we're loaded at wr and he does appear to have good hands.

So WF has tougher competition in the WR room than we do?  I have to say it's not encouraging.  It's easy to get excited about a new regime but history says expect the old nut punch.

Possibly something about some  UI credits not transferable affecting his eligibility at Wake.

Coach Dave Clawson said in a statement. “The academic circumstances behind him entering the transfer portal are through no fault of Casey, but moving on to another school is the best option for him and his family. Our staff will support Casey‘s immediate eligibility at his next institution.”

Badger Wire ranks the Big10 quarterbacks.
Starting at the bottom of the list .......

"For now, here is where every quarterback in the Big Ten stands entering the 2021 football season:

No. 14: Brandon Peters -- Illinois"

Bielema is a fucktard, but at least he’s a real college FB coach.
"He commented more than once that, 'You know, Hitler did some good things, too,'" Kelly recalled to The Times. Kelly said he would usually quash the conversation by saying "nothing (Hitler) did, you could argue, was good," but that Trump would occasionally bring up the topic again.

Alex Bryant enters the transfer portal late, so he needs an NCAA waiver for immediate eligibility. Every other school gets the ok, but I'm not holding my breath. Slotted for olb.

"Background: Bryant was a four-star prospect in the Class of 2020, choosing Virginia Tech among 24 Division-I scholarship offers, including LSU, Oklahoma, Oregon, Nebraska, Miami, Michigan State and USC. According to the 247Sports, he was the No. 329 overall prospect in the Class of 2020 and the No. 17 weakside defensive end."

That Ark thread doesn’t read that badly. Not as bad as I expected anyways. Even with Bielema’s alleged off field issues I’m super relieved it wasn’t LL.

Despite not doing great in the buzz saw of the SEC West, he is local and has proven high level success in the B1G West. I think a sober and motivated Bret Bielema could establish a relatively high floor for the program.

That said, I don’t find this to be an inspiring hire whatsoever. I hope he can manage to put together a good staff. If we are paying Bret 4.2 million a year I have to assume we will be competitive with staff salaries as well.

I think the salve I’m going to keep putting on this is “Came up under Barry Alvarez, went to three consecutive Rose Bowls as HC with his own players, recruited and coached Russell Wilson, and also coached under Bill Belichick.”

This thread is magical. Custard (of course) comes in with the most OPTIMISTIC comment on the Bielema hire. “Hopefully he can stay sober and it works out.”

And early in his tenure people were outraged when I called out his egregious public shaming of his players. Textbook example of the cognitive dissonance of the HQ.

Shoulda kept Lovie and told him the money difference would go to a defensive coordinator and better assistants.

Lol Mn was excited.

Nice try.
I've maintained all along that Lovie helped with a culture change and that players started looking at C-U.
Coaching them up appeared to be an after thought. That's a recipe for failure.
Keep reaching tho.

Agree on the second point.

Just curious, do you ever listen to the Underwood pressers?

Addressing this further, I rarely ever watch coach or player interviews. I think they are painfully boring. I couldn’t care less what Underwood thinks of the 2guard from Tuesday’s opponent, Middle Tennessee State. I’ll listen to an interview if it’s on a radio program, but I don’t go out of my way to seek them. Just not a good use of my time IMO.

Regarding Underwood, I don’t doubt he’s personable and even charming at times. I also think he’s toned down his act since he’s been here. Maybe new coaches come in with a chip on their shoulder because rhey think that’s what the fan base wants? I don’t know.

If Bielema had an alcohol issue, it appears as tho he may have overcome it.

Meanwhile, in your estimation, he went from being a fucktard to trash.
