LOL.. Gave you the list of losses and the numbers. The Purdue game Meyer missed a FS that would have put them in the lead. The game went straight downhil from there.   their earlier FS shooting put them in that position.

You gave me a list of mostly 3 possession losses in which going perfect from the line probably wouldn’t have made a difference in any of them. You can’t be serious.

You can’t point to one game that we DEFINITELY lost due to FT shooting.

Again ignoring the devastating effects missing FS can have.....Do you watch the games?

That’s not what I said. But math agrees with your basic gist.

Yes, I have.

You listed losses in games in which we took shots from the foul line. That’s literally about all that you did.

For every extra 3 made, that’s a guaranteed extra 3 points. For every extra FT made, that’s (being very very very generous on the very high side) an extra 1.67ish points. 3 > 1.67, so yeah, 3 point shooting was the bigger problem.

In reality, that ratio is probably much closer to 3 > 1.25

If you are putting up bad 3s because you are behind due to less points through missed FSs, that's due to missed FSs. Put having to foul in this same category.

LOL

I am done with this discussion because:

1) I never once said “free shots don’t matter” (another PAStrawMan)

2) there were no games we clearly lost because of FT shooting that year.

Feel free to continue talking to yourself on the matter.

Lastly, this is on par with your “you can blame the defense for not being very good, but if the offense can’t get first downs it’s the defenses’ fault” take.

There really aren’t that many scenarios where you can say with certainty that poor free throw shooting is what caused a loss. It’s not as simple as looking at the final score and then adding made FTs back to it and determining that would have made the difference.

That team was a really poor FS shooting team. It’s almost a certainty that it cost us at least one game, which is apparently the threshold for validity.

We were told frosh bigs were the problem, until that was disproved
