It's not an Illini game without missing a game clinching FT or two. Still didn't matter anyway.

That flagrant 1 might be the worst call I’ve ever seen. That’s worse than Melendez’s hanging in the rim call. Just total bullshit and they ever reviewed it. Still pulled out the win! Good shit!

Huge win against a borderline top ten team without two of our key players. Maybe we are going to be good?

Tx Tech, having shot only 2 free shots to that point, got a phantom call go their way.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Normally I would say TT got homered with that big of a difference, the reality is with Toppin being the exception, they were not aggressive and taking the ball to our guys/rim to draw fouls.

Offense still looks disjointed at times, 3pt shots are still many @ 31%, not sure our super freshman WAH gler should be taking them at this point. Stoyakovic is the real deal, the amount of contact him and Bos cause, we will be getting to the line ALOT! Big Z played a well rounded game.

Should have gone zone imo against TT, they are a bad 3 pt shooting team, Toppin could have been boxed in a little as well.

Either way very good quality win, with a gaunlet schedule coming up....we will see just how good we are when the new higher ranking (10-11) with teams likely to drop (Fichigan/Florida).
"We have a great bunch of outside shooters. Unfortunately, all our games are played indoors."

This win looks good now, but just wait. TT will turn out to be wildly overrated, and this win in February won't matter. That's what seems to happen to us.

I see we're still allowing one guy to go off for 40, but on the flip side we've lost all these games in past years so that's a big win. Statement win on national TV.

Unless Toppin gets hurt, I think they will be good this year

Toppin was 1st team All-American and conference player of the year 2 years in a row.
He had a good game and chipped in with 6 turnovers.
Watts looked good and had 21.

For us that #2 guy played well. For a true freshman Wagler doesn't play like one. He may have taken an ill advised 3 late in the game but I have no idea how much time was left on the shot clock. He will go into the paint to score and to rebound.
We didn't take many bad shots, we didn't take too many 3's and shoot poorly doing it and we didn't turn the ball over much.

No complaints here.
