Also, would you have them draft the 4th OT off the board at 10 in a draft that doesn’t have a single consensus day one starting LT in the draft? I’d probably rather have the 1st choice at another position, one that the new coach obviously values.

But yeah, would be nice if Caleb learns to throw to TEs. Having said that, this guy isn’t a “traditional” TE.

Meaning he can't block well?

“Best TE in the draft” is also not objective. Ben Johnson obviously feels Loveland fits what he wants to do best. Also heard that the guy we drafted is a much more advanced route runner.
"He commented more than once that, 'You know, Hitler did some good things, too,'" Kelly recalled to The Times. Kelly said he would usually quash the conversation by saying "nothing (Hitler) did, you could argue, was good," but that Trump would occasionally bring up the topic again.

Meaning he can't block well?

That’s not his primary role. I’ve heard he’s a solid blocker who will smash LBs and DBs but probably needs to improve on inline blocking. Again, Ben Johnson didn’t bring him here to set the edge for the run game.

Meaning he can't block well?

Meaning he can play outside and create separation that way, which most “traditional” TEs don’t do.

Wut the writer said.
If the Bears hadn't gone with a pick that might help, he will help, they stayed with a "serviceable" guy who needs help from others.

He’s going to be a major matchup problem in the passing game. A lot of TEs can be covered with a LB. That’s not going to work with this guy.

WTF are you even trying to say here?

This seems to mostly fit with what I’ve been hearing. This guy has him as TE1. He’s also two years younger than Warren (and a more polished route runner).

I'm trying to say what the writer said.

Protecting Williams with someone who is more than "serviceable" would have been a better route than picking a position that Williams doesn't throw to.

Heard a B1G analyst say that TE1 discussion likely would have been tighter had Loveland not missed the last few games (including the Ohio State game).

Did you even follow the fucking draft? There wasn’t a single consensus starting LT in the 1st round. Even Campbell is projected to be kicked inside at the next level. The next two guys are projected RTs. You want them to take the 4th tackle off the board and hope he works out?

Braxton Jones has been fine (i.e. not the problem). He is still pretty young and should only get better. There wasn’t no one in this draft that is an obvious upgrade.

Im guessing Ben Johnson has thought of this and thinks he can make it work.

There was not one bona fide “franchise LT” in this draft. Again, many scouts think Campbell is likely to be moved inside, and he was the consensus #1 guy. It is not a good draft for LT.

They added an All-Pro guard and two other upgrades to the OL. It should be vastly improved.

Last year was a far better draft for LT.
