Today looks like the dude made the right choice getting away from Underachiever.
What's his NIL at Michigan vs what we could have offered ?
Not saying he wasn't leaving anyway but we do need more physicality and athleticism

I hate saying this but Morez Sr was partly right when he talked about how Underwood didn't fully appreciate what Morez could do. This is not solely due to the difference between year one and year two.

I don’t think the plan for Morez long term was to keep doing what he was doing last year as a true freshman big who also got hurt and missed time. He couldn’t shoot a lick and has progressed a lot in that regard. Probably would have done so here, too.

Still think it mostly came down to money and the Johnsons wanted a reason to make it look like it wasn’t just money for PR sake. But maybe May is getting more out of him than we could have.

Those who shill for Underachiever still shilling for Underachiever despite the results in TOTTM.

Now there is not even the bullshit B1G title to fall back on

Doesn't seen to matter when you have Underachiever who can't win win 2 AAs and then drives off Johnson for soft Euros.

We got our butts handed to us on a golden platter.

Underwood may want to think about his recruiting "analytics" going forward.

On the plus side, we don't have a Mayer to punch an Epps in the nose

Recruiting analytics would have predicted that we would've gotten our asses kicked in even harder. We wanted two of the guys who killed us last night (one of whom was on our roster last year) and I'm sure we would've taken Cadeau in a heartbeat. May probably offered Stojakovic, but Jake Davis or Ben Humrichous wouldn't see the floor for Michigan and either Ivisic is playing reserve minutes.

It doesn't help that we're injury plagued this year which took Rodgers out and has hit Petrovic (who I still suspect should be playing but is in the doghouse), Boswell and Stojakovic (including last night I think), but Michigan has a better starting 5 at 4 of 5 spots on paper and a deeper bench.

To the extent there's a recruiting issue, it's that we are slow and struggle with any team that can neutralize the height advantages. But even if you had quicker players on the roster, I don't have full confidence they would've been on the floor yesterday.

Probably humor here, BUT, the NIL package for ILLINI isn't the issue....we got lots of deep pockets helping and more to come.....

The issue is the "culture" that our staff wants...many don't fit into that culture....maybe some families don't as well.

Fichigan is damn good, very cohesive, some of their pick and roll plays were top shelf....their aggressiveness is what won this game. Now would Rez had been great for us this year sure...he would be the starting but with Mirk, we would be facing the same issue as last year with his family and him saying PT and skill set wasn't being utilized. At the end of the day I think the Johnsons just wanted out and Fichigan was there in the beginning and at the end...

Move on, hope we get better, and hope we don't run into Fichigan any time soon, not sure the outcome will be any different.

Pretty sure Mirk wouldn’t be here if we still had Morez.

It’s kinda funny comparing the stats against the Johnsons’ complaints that he wasn’t being used properly. And needed to be shooting threes.

He played 18 mpg last year as a true freshman on a top 25 team, and his per minute stats aren’t much different than this year. Points a little higher and rebounds a fair amount lower this year.

He has improved his FT% almost 20% and has taken 19 three pointers on the season, or about .67 attempts per game. Maybe Dusty May taught him how to shoot in the off-season but I’m guessing he just got better.

Big reason he wasn’t on the floor more last year was that he couldn’t defend without fouling. Once he got better at that he was getting more minutes and turning the corner. Then he got hurt against MSU on that block attempt where he landed on his chest and missed some games.

I don’t see much that indicates he would have been on much of a different trajectory had he stayed at Illinois.

Congrats to Rez, don't like how things with family and him turned out for the ILLINI, but Kudo's for making it work.

Looks like he’s projected to go late first round in the draft. Any of the NBA experts here know if late first round NBA money can pay more than Michigan? Sven?

Average late round $$$ is in the range of $2.3 million to $2.5 million, he is at that this year already from my understanding....so YEA he could stay and make more............................however..................if his family is involved, and we know they are-and will be.........my bet is he would jump.
