Shouldn't the President have an adequate defense against baseless accusations and malicious prosecutions?  /s

Some think the people who Trump threatened with revenge for doing their jobs should be shielded from baseless accusations and malicious prosecution.
If the accusations aren't baseless and the prosecution is not malicious is that revenge ?

If the charges are "baseless" then the "perceived enemies" should have an adequate defense.
Who are these "perceived enemies" ?

Omg. Somebody might weaponize the justice dept ? lol

Do you think these people would sit worry free at home while their lawyers work pro bono to keep them out of jail?
"He commented more than once that, 'You know, Hitler did some good things, too,'" Kelly recalled to The Times. Kelly said he would usually quash the conversation by saying "nothing (Hitler) did, you could argue, was good," but that Trump would occasionally bring up the topic again.

But, but, but I'm being told they didn't do anything wrong. They shouldn't have anything to worry about.

Then, then, the President shouldn't need immunity. You can't have it both ways.

I see you are still new here.

When a cop writes a bullshit traffic ticket, and you show up to contest it and the cop doesn't show, you "beat the baseless charges" but also wasted a day of your time dealing with traffic court. Harassment is an effective tool.

If there is sufficient evidence of an actual crime; then by all means, investigate. If the crime is sedition, well ...

Does he really want to spend the next 2 to 4  years and lot of money dealing with malicious prosecutions?

OTOH, I kind of a agree with him. Let's revisit the January 6 committee hearings.

Kinzinger would LOVE to do that. I mean, it's not particularly his first choice of what to do with his life, wishes this wasn't an issue, but given the state we are in, a set of baseless charges against him gives him the opportunity to fight back in broad daylight, which is basically his job right now.

You left out "have to" after "shouldn't".

SCOTUS apparently thinks it's now necessary.

Let's.

by Liz Cheney, the former Vice Chair of the January 6 Select Committee, and these violations
should be investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation."

Dirt digging at its finest. Looks like bullshit. Cheney told Cassidy Hutchinson she could not discuss her testimony without her lawyer  present. Hutchinson contacted Cheney anyway. It appears there may have been concerns about whose interests the lawyer may have been representing.

. “Even amid multiple failures, there were two common elements that significantly contributed to the security issues: an excessive amount of political influence on critical decisions, and a greater concern over the optics than for protecting life and property.”-- loudermilk committee

It wasn't the fault of the people who attacked the capital with the intention of overturning an election. It was a security failure by the Democrats. Orwellian

Interesting:

""Passantino was the lawyer for Cassidy Hutchinson, a former White House aide who was unemployed at the time, who under subpoena testified before the United States House Select Committee on the January 6 Attack.

Trump's Save America political action committee paid Passantino for his representation of Hutchinson, and the committee reported that he did not tell her who was paying him. After she was deposed, Hutchinson received a call from a top aide to Mark Meadows saying: "Mark wants me to let you know that he knows you’re loyal, and he knows you’ll do the right thing tomorrow and that you’re going to protect him and the boss."
Concerned that her testimony was being conveyed to Trump, and suspecting Passantino's legal team of leaking it to him, but having no evidence of any leak, she terminated Passantino's representation of her."

"Hutchinson testified that Passantino assured her that "Trump world" would find her a job and keep her in the family"
