He and Nick Wright are best friends. Maybe Nick Wright has that kind of pull, I don’t know. But it’s pretty clear Colin Cowherd likes him, and I’m pretty sure he has a lot of pull.

National shows are like that. One of the reasons I don’t watch national shows. Plus, I don’t give a shit about the Eagles and Cowboys unless they are on that night.

I do like listening to discussion on my favorite local teams (mostly the Bears).

Trying to think of a national host I really like. I guess I like Emmanuel Acho, but I don’t watch him outside of a clip here and there from the Internet. I loved Jim Rome’s radio show back in the late 90s, but that’s when I lived in San Antonio and couldn’t get Bears talk.

I’ve never liked Laurence Holmes going back to when he’d shit all over one of the best programs in basketball (Illini) then act like DePaul was anything but a fucking disaster. I argued with him on the phone sitting on my back porch off the air one time until he got so flustered he hung up on me. We also had some epic text battles back in the late aughts.

Actually, nah. Probably not.

I'm pretty done with sports radio. We had to listen to it when we could only get 2 NFL games a week and a couple baseball games. Now you can get real sports anytime you want, no need to listen to douchebags like Bayless or the loonies with nicknames like "Beano Dave from Worcester!" that call in daily.

This sounds very believable. He went to U of I for like 3 weeks and left because he thought the campus was racist (or something to that effect). He definitely wasn’t pro-Illini.

I remember having an exchange with Laurence on the Illini as well. He basically said “enjoy being Purdue,” because Weber was our coach. He didn’t really turn out to be wrong, but I did respond to him that he wishes DePaul were Purdue.
