If you want to protect your young quarterback you don’t make him and your franchise look like pussies and sit him; here’s what you do instead:

• RUN THE FOOTBALL
• Run more 2 TE sets, less 3 WR
• Run more 2 back sets/using Roschon or bring back Blasingame
• Move the pocket, you’ve got a mobile quarterback
• Run more quick game/slants
• Run more bootlegs

There are ways to better protect your quarterback other than placing him in bubble wrap. Benching him for his safety makes everyone look bad. And you’ve probably damaged his confidence.
