It’s hilarious you guys think it was a flip flop or he caved. He got the exact response he wanted. The other countries panicked and agreed to negotiate. China needs our market more than we need their stuff and Xi is backed into a corner as the “guy who stands up to America.” We can wait China out on this more than they can wait us out. But of course we have liberals openly cheering for China and Europe at our expense because TDS.

Whatever. Xi could give two fucks about Trump.

No China - no Nvidia, no apple, no google, no microsoft, no amazon

That's over 20% of the S&P

Xi could give two fucks if Vance's peasants get fucked. He's not backed into anywhere.

The strategy was obvious and when I explained it the other day I was roundly mocked, then exactly what I said would happen happened. 75 countries begging to negotiate trade deals with and then relief.

Do you have a smidgen of evidence to support that? From here, it looks like the strategy failed miserably and Trump caved.

He caved before the negotiations Custard is crowing about even started and not one shoe or cell phone plant built.

I, for one, appreciate someone who is committed to a bit though!

The White House has these press conferences with this woman who explains this stuff all the time. The administration has explained it at length. But as I’ve pointed it out before, it’s nowhere to be found on most anti-Trump media outlets, just reports that it’s pure chaos and there is no strategy. The strategy was always to implement the tariffs, he campaigned on it. He has said if countries are willing to negotiate we’d negotiate. He slapped the tariffs on, shocked the market, then 75+ countries started begging to negotiate because they must have access to our consumer economy. Then Trump agreed to a pause with those countries. It’s really simple but this is clearly being suppressed because good luck finding what should be readily available info.

OK. You got us.

While this does get amusing, there are some pretty smart people on this board, and that probably includes you when you aren't doing this minstrel act. Can we dispense of it.

That's about as good a strategy as going to the doctor to negotiate for a handicapped placard by showing up and cutting off your legs. You may very well, in fact, get the placard.

Trump cheerleaders aren't persuasive.

But yet you’re someone who bought the Steele Dossier lie, applauded lockdowns and still believes there was nothing Sleepy Joe could do about the border.

Can we trust Illiniray’s judgement? Is he capable of objectivity of any kind in regards to Trump? I’m unsure!

Guess we openly accept a piece from a publication that openly hates Trump, by a correspondent with 4 decades at said publication. I must have missed the part in his biography where he has any training or background in economics.

From Ray’s article:

Quote
And officials have yet to describe the strategy for managing a global system of astounding complexity after the initial shock wears off, other than endless threats and negotiations between the leader of the world’s largest economy and everyone else.

Why the hell would they tip their hand leading up to negotiations? Just goes to show how anything can be spun to be negative. The whole point of creating the shock is to have everyone else on their heels and use the uncertainty to our advantage. But apparently half the country wants the administration to spell every move out for them ahead of time.
