Dude campaigns on massive tariffs, gets elected, institutes massive tariffs, and people are surprised there are disruptions to the markets when the tariffs hit? This is elementary school level shit here.

Trump voters can't hold three thoughts in their brain at the same time. He campaigned on eggs, transgender, and tariffs. The eggs and transgender filled the brains. And he didn't even fix those!

When tariff/border talk heated up, I shorted my positions in Tesla, Nvidia and fentanyl, went long on DeepSeek and precious metals (thanks infomercial guy!) and reinvested the gains into being a Bears fan again. For a while.

So you believe the price of fentanyl will go lower. Presumably because Trump is doing such a shitty job reducing the flow of fentanyl that the market is flooded and the price has dropped.

It went up almost 6%, almost exactly what it’s down now. The money we just “lost” was what we made since he was elected.

Close today - lower than April 1, 2024. April Fools, indeed.

There will be lots of ups and downs like today responding to each piece of chaotic change.  But the long-term is not good, at all.

"Bargain hunters" jumped in today and moved them up, driven back by people who were like "OK, here's my chance to bail".

And no gym shoe factories have opened and none will because they all know he is going to make a "deal" that won't make it worth it.

The bond market is larger than the stock market and is doing fine.

Interesting you seem to have forgot the increased bond volatility seen in 2022 and 2023

This was a very easy call, and you got it wrong.

They are moving from long duration to short duration due to stagflation fears

"just a bit outside"

https://www.cnbc.com/2025/04/09/trump-tariffs-german-bonds-rise-as-us-treasury-yields-sell-off.html

The yield curve is showing that long term bonds are doing the worst, people who are staying in treasuries are moving to shorter durations because it's easier to get the hell out, not "stagflation". More worried the dollar is going to reduce it's status as the reserve

I think immigration was a fairly large issue with a certain demographic as well.

Trump has indeed taking the front running grift to a new level. I had no loose cash or I would have gone all in as soon as China announced their retaliation, that seemed like a good enough bat signal that they needed to turn the ship around and cash in.

And be pauses tariffs, for 90 days, except for China.

We will get factories here or not?
