They have to sign a veteran quarterback. We can’t roll with Tyson Bagent at #2. I’d have tried to sign Mariota or Garoppolo. Who’s out there still, Tannehill?

The Bear could always trade down to #3 to pick another UNC QB, and pass on Mahomes 2.0

One would think that would send a message.

There is zero reason to trust your football acumen at this point

This column is devastating.  And it is not even written by Rick Morrissey.  What could have been if only Fields had 3 to 5 more years with the Bears....

https://chicago.suntimes.com/2024/03/16/the-league-confirms-ryan-poles-call-on-justin-fields

As it turned out — likely to Poles’ surprise — there was nothing even close to a bidding war for Fields. It’s a bit of a surprising rebuke for such a talented player. Bears offensive coordinator Luke Getsy, fired by the Bears on Jan. 10, was hired by the Raiders as offensive coordinator less than a month later — after also interviewing with the Patriots and Saints. The Patriots were interested in Luke Getsy but not Justin Fields? Wow.

The league didn’t seem to think the Bears’ offense, the
offensive coordinator or the supporting cast was the problem. Wide receiver Darnell Mooney, who conspicuously disappeared in Getsy’s offense, signed a three-year, $39 million contract ($26 million guaranteed) with the Falcons on Tuesday.

But the NFL has had three years to watch Fields as a starter and saw Gardner Minshew and Sam Darnold as better options.

Fields wasn’t even the most valuable back-up quarterback. The Steelers got a third-round pick and two 2025 seventh-round picks from the Eagles for Kenny Pickett and a fourth-round pick.

Yeah I think the league showed what they think about Justin Fields. It’s pretty harsh, but worth noting it’s not very highly. And all those teams would be drafting Caleb Williams at #1 given the chance. They all would choose Williams over Fields, hands down 100%, just like the Bears.

The league also showed who was to blame last year, and it wasn’t Getsy or Mooney. No idea how you could even argue that now…

That is me saying if it happens, not when it happens

You have literally said the Bears are getting rid of fields, and that they are keeping fields (because Bears).

And the league showed what they thought of Lamar, Jackson last year, and we know how that turned out. Lamar was up for grabs and literally the ravens were the only ones in on him.

DEVASTATING. Can’t wait to read it.

And I’m not anti-Fields. I trolled you pretty hard the past couple months, but I didn’t wanna see Field’s be the Bears QB going forward. Caleb Williams will show you he’s so much better and I can’t wait. Massive upgrade in the QB position. So, just more pro Williams is all. I wish Fields the best. He seems like a very good guy with a good head on his shoulders. Business is business.

Yes, it’s very telling actually. Hence the results in the playoffs. Lamar = Joel Embid. Besides putting up good numbers, they haven’t actually accomplished shit. 🤷🏻‍♂️

He’s a two-time MVP and he’s like 27, there are maybe three-four teams in the league who wouldn’t take him
