Harrumph.

From the Wiki .....
"After receiving his J.D. degree summa cum laude in 2008, Whitman took a job in Washington D.C. working as an attorney for Covington & Burling, which serves as outside legal counsel for the NFL."

Watched the WCIA video on The YouTube. I have more questions about their adherence to their own policies, based on how Gunether Jr described the process, how it gets triggered,  etc. in his intro, that's for sure.

Did they even have UIPD follow up with Lawrence PD to see if the investigation had been closed? Obviously not.

Someone may question how "forthcoming" TSJ was about his weekend in Lawrence in their discussions.

The cops are asking to interview him and you are asking him what happened that weekend instead of asking him if he needs a lawyer or suggesting he lawyer up first? Granted, it is possible he did do that.

Did they try and FOIA the police report? Granted, it probably did not need to be produced until the investigation was complete.

Not sure I'm impressed with what I just heard. Bob's question about the media PR stuff was a good one given they obviously had not confirmed closure on this.

Doesn’t seem like you watched the presser.  Whitman said explicitly they had UIPD reach out to LPD multiple times for more info and didn’t get anything back.

Don’t think you can FOIA police reports from an open case like that.

No, I watched it, Spark. Saying that TSJ was "forthcoming" was extremely stupid on his part.

You may not get the police report if you FOIA it if the investigation is open. But then you know the damn investigation is still open if they refuse to produce it.

Plus, who knows how forthcoming the Kansas cops (or Guenther Jr was in his press conference) actually were. Would be convenient to say the cops weren't to cover your ass, especially after you just explained how allegations can trigger the process.

The usual odds the DIA is wearing clown shoes remain high.

Not at all but I doubt anyone is surprised you chose one of the dumbest possible takes on it.

What did Guenther Jr know and when did he know it is relevant to his application of the process that he said was designed to cover situations like this, Mr. Naive.

Regardless of the merits of the underlying allegations, putting out the social media stuff they did on him while a sexual assault investigation was pending is clown shoes.

Great stuff from the guy who was actually mad at Jobu. You can't make the stuff up that goes on around here.

I love how you think mocking me for giving a shit about people says something bad about me.

If the shit you want to make fun of me for here is “got sad when he thought his friend died only to be angry when he found out it was a ‘joke’”, go right ahead.  Pathetic even for you, and that’s a low bar these days.  Not sure, honestly, what happened to you.

Well Cops are not going to divulge any details during an investigation to any outside party, much less Whitman. That can interfere with their investigation. They didn’t want to spook Terence otherwise it’s possible Terence shuts up, disposes of evidence, etc.

I maintain that if it was an IL student making the allegations,he’d have been suspended immediately.  Since it was outside the U of I’s jurisdiction so to speak, and Kansas police weren’t going to divulge any details while working the case, that they let him play and promoted him in the media.

I don’t think U of I would ever suspend a player before a formal charge was brought unless the allegation was from another U of I student, bc in that case it’d be a student v student discipline matter
