Well, according to the coaches, there was no outside run to be had as Fields made the right call on the option play. So that would not have worked to run outside the tackle.

Basically, your only option at that point was to throw the ball, risking an incompletion and Det not needing to use its TOs.

If there were really 10 fucking guys in the box, selling out totally to stop the run, then yes, that's a coaching failure. A Pop Warner quarterback throws a touchdown pass in that instance.

Of course, if there aren't really 10 guys in there...
