I am still wondering about the Marquette fan getting kicked out for taking videos of the cheerleaders and then getting called a perv. I bounced this off my wife. She said he must have done more than this.

My guess is he was yelling at Moretti about wanting his cock.

Epps had something off in the 2nd half of the year. Read this article's awkward phrasing with hindsight. This happened at the same time of Mayer's caffeine binge.

https://www.stltoday.com/sports/college/illini/illinois-basketballs-jayden-epps-hospitalized-overnight-after-he-went-down-at-practice/article_47ca4a2a-f18c-58b1-95b9-335977f1efd6.html

Quote
Mayer didn't see Epps' incident at practice, because Mayer missed Tuesday's practice due to caffeine poisoning. But he did say Epps had been released from the hospital.

"I wasn't there at practice, so I didn't see the whole event," Mayer said. "But I just saw him walking at the apartment. So I think it's affecting everybody. Everybody's just kind of waiting to see what happens. He's obviously OK, so everybody is OK with that. But we don't know what's going to happen to him the rest of the season or if he's going to have to quit basketball. We have no idea what's going on, so I'll just leave that to coach Underwood to explain that to you all."

There's a lot to unpack there.

With Underwood being so high on DGL, maybe he needs to starts and have Rodgers come off the bench.

They need another playmaker/scorer in there with Hawkins being so inefficient on offense and Guerrier being limited on offense.

It's basically 2 vs 5 on the offensive end when the current starting unit is out there.

Hawkins sucks harder than a black hole and I don’t like the Rodgers at PG experiment any more than anyone else, but I think Guerrier is better offensively than we saw last night. He’s a career 35% 3 pt shooter and has had a decent number of games where he scored 20+. Just couldn’t buy one last night for some reason.

Underwood is notorious for being unwilling to make obvious needed changes.

I agree they need to sit Rodgers. He has 3 assists for the fucking year facilitating the offense.
For all of the hype about being a bigger guard who will get offensive boards he has 1 for the year.
He has made a good percentage of his limited shots, but is absolutely no threat to take anything except a layup.
Oh, and he is shooting 0% from the line. He never draws fouls.
He is a nothingburger. He hurts us by his limited contribution and what he cannot do. Defenses can hedge off him and plug the paint.
I would zone the fuck out of us or play man with zone principles.
We can't take 33 threes a night and beat any good teams. We can take 20-25 threes a night as long as only certain guys are taking them.

Rodgers somehow played 29 minutes last night. We all knew UW wiould ride that horse he committed to when he whiffed this summer.
How long is the question.

I would start Goode.

Bring Rodgers and Dainja off the bench to sub for Hawkins or Guerrier.

Bring DGL along as first guard/wing to spell one of TSJ/Domask/Goode and hope he develops.
All three of TSJ, Domask, and DGL can penetrate in half court at times and get a shot off or make basic kick outs or dump downs.
None run the PnR well, but UW has never featured it.
All three have to be played up on as they can shoot the three sort of.
Nobody else on team can do all of those enough for defense to have to worry about it.

We have a really shit group of players in terms of offensive skillsets, but that is what he recruits.
He wants to drag people into a street brawl. Terrible roster construction as always.

Domask and TSJ need to run the team and play 30+ mpg. They are our best players and most well rounded offensively.
You then have three 3 point threats at all times to get spacing as long as Goode or DGL is out there also.
Teams can right now totally layoff Rodgers, Guerrier, Hawkins, and Dainja.

DGL only got 7 minutes last night. Fucking play him.

I agree Guerrier is pretty solid. He can guard on ball, rebound, and score a little bit.
He is better than Hawkins overall IMO.

Hawkins has a 78 Off Rating in KenPom.
Words cannot begin to explain how bad that is.

He was 101 last year which is very average to mediocre for a D1 starter.

I thought RJM played his best in and around the paint. Somehow 🤷‍♂️ his game last year became a go sit in the corner and brick a 3 once in a while. He became useless and left.
I understand that he was banged up much of last year but coaching should involve letting players play to their strengths and widening their game.

I see the same happening with Rodgers, except with Rodgers it's a case of go play the point because we didn't bring in anyone to do it other than a freshman and become useless there.
It can hurt Rodgers, the rest of the players and the team.

And we looked like we had no interest in playing two 20 minute halves vs Marquette after seeing a game finishing 6-7 minutes vs Oakland of some of the best defense we've played since parts of games during the Ayo years.
Underwood's teams need to play defense rather than hoping for somebody having a hot day from 3 in our half court offense.

Starting lineup for next game I would love to see and the issues:

DGL PG
TSJ Alpha
Domask Backup Alpha
Guerrier PF/C
Goode - F/W/G

Off the bench

Hawkins - who knows
Dainja - Rebounder?
Harmon - Defender????
Rodgers - Energy

Play this kid more. WTF are they waiting for?

DGL made 37 threes in a row in practice.

“Practice?! Not a game. Not the game that I go out there and die for and play every game like it's my last. Not the game. We talking about practice, man. We sitting here and I'm supposed to be the franchise player,” DGL pleaded, “and we talking about practice!”

Nope. That was Jobu.

Ahhhh, so this could be a case of projection.
"He commented more than once that, 'You know, Hitler did some good things, too,'" Kelly recalled to The Times. Kelly said he would usually quash the conversation by saying "nothing (Hitler) did, you could argue, was good," but that Trump would occasionally bring up the topic again.
