97, who was bricking the Free Shots? Starter? Regular bench guys? End of the benchers? I feel like we should be concerned and Tempo will get riled up.

Sorry I’m gonna have to do observations since Jasn is still on his sabbatical. I’m watching the highlights on The YouTube. Most of the misses were in garbage time late by subs.

I was so focused on the PG situation all off-season that I didn’t really give credence to all the newcomers, and they look really good for the most part.

Domask is really solid, Harmon will help, Hansberry and DGL are going to be really good at some point. Guerrier is a proven producer.

I know it’s against Ottawa, but we can examine how the new guys look compared to our players who have played at this level before, and these guys look like they belong.

PG is obviously still a major concern, but I came away feeling pretty good about this squad. I still don’t see them challenging for a B1G title but I think they’ll be a big step up from last year.

I will say this team looks a lot deeper than last year's squad as well, lots of interchangeable parts and a lot of kids that can do many things

Team looks much more mobile/athletic and interchangeable for the most part realizing it is Ottawa.

DGL-Moretti look really comfortable and will own the PG by year end imo.
Rodgers looks good penetrating, however gets to low, doesn't look to shoot, only looks to dump out, cannot make a free throw.
NBA er's looked the part, Coleman didn't look flustered, and TSJ went right a few times, both will help their stock status imo.
Domask is a really really consistant player, especially a passer it seems.
Hansberry will be our below the rim rebounder, has a knack for the ball.
Dain looks the same, a little more athletic possibly.
Harris will only get time if defense is there
Harmon spot shooter at best, in over his head from an athletic, talent standpoint.

I look at the box and see the starters at 7-21 from 3 and the bench with the same but Hansberry with a double double in 14 minutes.

12/22 on free shots.

Welcome back to reality.

This probably has PAMan in the fetal position. I’m sort of freaking the fuck out myself.

Ottawa’s free shot defense was solid.

Tempo will be happy...

https://www.news-gazette.com/newsletter/content/sports/illini_basketball/good-morning-illini-nation-not-concerned-with-free-throw-shooting/article_9bc41876-35fe-5021-b9a6-f40c57af83bd.html

Illinois shot 12 of 22 from the free throw line in Friday's exhibition win against Ottawa (Kan.). That's just 54.5 percent. But Brad Underwood isn't worried. Terrence Shannon Jr. making all six he attempted and Justin Harmon going 3 of 4 stood out more to the Illini coach.

Especially Shannon. With the new block/charge rules, the veteran guard might be a frequent visitor at the free throw line. He shot 79 percent at the line last season on just shy of seven attempts per game.

But Illinois is coming off a season where it shot 67.9 percent at the line as a team. That was among the 50 worst teams in the country, and one of the primary culprits a year ago (Ty Rodgers) missed all three of his attempts in the exhibition game. And 54.5 percent still 54.5 percent.

"There's a lot of reasons for that, I guess," Illinois coach Brad Underwood said. "Ty missed a few. I think we're a really good free throw shooting team. We've shown that in practice. Guys that get to the line, Terrence made all of his and Justin. (Dra Gibbs-Lawhorn) is going to make them. We've got some guys shooting them that probably won't in real games, but, yeah, we'll be good."

Yeah, if you believe bullshit from coaches.

Telling as in Gibbs will be running the show imo before the conference season starts. Rodgers is a player, not a facilitator, and as such cannot have the ball in his hands during any crucial moment...Little Italy and DGL will be guiding the ship. Rodgers may start there, but it won't be all Jolly for us or him.
