I have no fucking idea why Trump told Gen Milley, among others, to make it safe.
Maybe, from a few months before the election he gets taken to a bunker. ....

And then, oh look. Riot gear.
Cities across the country were putting up with what they and the media were calling "mostly peaceful protests" while buildings were burning, businesses were being destroyed and 3 dozen people died. Fortunately, it was all for a good cause so many people arrested were treated lightly.
2 lawyers tossed a molotov cocktail into a police car. The prosecutors requested 2 years and the judge cut it to a little over half of that for 1 of the lawyers. The other lawyer got 1 year and a day.
Apparently their text messages must have shown that they showed no ill will.
"“I hope they burn everything down,” Rahman told Mattis in a message hours before protests formed. “Need to burn all the police stations down… probably all the courts too.”
When Rahman joined protesters that night, she wrote to Mattis: “Throwing bottles and tear gas … lit some fires but were put out … fireworks goin and Molotovs rollin.”
With the backdrop and intelligence beginning in Dec of 2020 that there could be violence on Jan 6 Trump told people to make it safe. The President has more access to intelligence than anyone in the country.
John Sullivan, a self proclaimed BLM activist, was inside the Capitol with someone else.
""I brought my megaphone to instigate s---," Sullivan said in footage played for jurors, in which he bragged that he'd sought to "make those Trump supporters f--- s--- up."
There were more than Trump supporters on Jan6 and I doubt if there were only the 2 BLM supporters that day.
Subordinates were told to make Jan 6 safe. It wasn't done. Pelosi, Schumer and Hoyer were told that the Guard was moving. It wasn't until a couple of hours later that the directive to move even got to the Guard.
Since then, Trump has been the victim of 1 assassination attempt that just missed. A guy had a rifle pointed at Trump. Iran is said to have assassination plans for Trump.
NYC would throw him behind bars for the rest of his life, if they could, over misdemeanor charges.
I have no idea, other than he was right, why he would have said to make it safe.
