Going to Illini games and other stadiums has made me realize we have a horrible gameday experience.
Cut out the circus music, the stupid games they play on timeouts
Start getting rowdy. Play rock n roll, play more aggressive music with the band, move the student section to a better visual place
Add more concessions, no reason to stand in line for 40 minutes for a hot dog
Make it where people actually want to come to the game not cuz they feel forced.
Have a sound system that does the Illini chant.
Most of the time people look beyond bored going to the v game

The one thing that I hate the most is the random super annoying loud snippets of Soulja Boy and shit like that in an otherwise dead quiet stadium. And honestly unless you have 50 yard line seats in a luxury box it’s way more fun to be watching it on a 75” screen in lot 31 surrounded by good food and alcohol which you cannot get inside.

You want to get the atmosphere at Memorial Stadium rocking?
I have two words for you. Brantley Gilbert.
You want two more words? Brass Knuckles Microphone.

Lovie hiring a chick. Bet all the SJWs will be happy about this. Meanwhile Illinois football will just continue its death spiral.
Any old white guys interview for this? Should I complain about discrimination? Who has the pulse of 17 year old high school kids better than me?
What else should I expect with the this state is being run?

Now that I'm posting semi-anonymously, I can say things like "OMG that was a disasterous interview" and "WTF was he thinking hiring that child?" or "we're not even the conference laughing stock anymore; they just feel sorry for us."

I hope they do not toss you out of the press conferences like they tossed WIND's Amy Jacobson out of the Pritzker COVID-19 press conferences for being unfiltered at the Open Illinois rally!

The issue, as has been reported by Bobby Feder, is that she crossed the line by advocating a position at the rally as opposed to merely being there as a "reporter." Reporters are invited to attend the press conferences, opinion commentators apparently are not. I will admit I think that is a slim reed to hang on, but Trump has thrown people out of his conferences for similar reasons, right?

Just for quoting something Trump said or tweeted.

Amy Jacobson is an activist (which is fine).
Real journalists report news. They don’t try to make news. Can’t have it both ways. Journalism 101.

we should have continuing education for these "journalists" as all that has gone down the shitter for a long time and the only thing editors bosses care about is eyeballs and clicks to sell to advertisers
hmm I'm seeing a trend here

The shitty AD still has not taken any of your advice.

Except they are adding more "water only" concession stands. Nothing about increasing the chances you can get a cold one or even a cold hot dog.

What's a dog cost at a game? Stand in line and pay too much for an inferior product? Why?

Because people bring kids to the game and they get hungry?

Eat before the game. Smuggle in a bag of Cheetos.

Not everyone plans as much as you do. A lot of people are like IlliniGolf.

Speaking only for myself, I rarely buy concessions at a sporting event, because the cost is ridiculous. With that being said, if the event has concessions, and are willing to charge a nominal fee, they should be able to deliver them, no? I mean, it seems to me that the more they can move, the more money they can make. Seems like basic microeconomics, if you will.
After hearing about the shitshow that was week 0, I won’t be going to a game this year. I usually try to make one, but I don’t need the bullshit. It’s not worth it. If they can’t handle a 2/3 full stadium, no point in fucking with it.

Yeah, good luck with that. What if you get caught?!

Jail time for sure if you’re MAGA!! Serious threat to the DIA and university and they don’t take that shit lightly! Next thing ya know there will be cancellation of games for sure.

Come on, man.

Seriously. Does every fucking thing have to be political? Can we have one fucking thread on here that doesn’t have that bullshit?
Jesus Christ. Come on. Be better, you fucking assholes.
-
Can we have one fucking thread on here that doesn’t have that bullshit?
I'm guessing the answer is "No.'
-
Ok, since I derailed this thread in the 1st place, figured it was time to get it back on track.
Tempo, as you are the gold standard for the suburban Illini fan (since you never know when the games are being played), what would it take for you to bring the family to an Illini football game?

Got an email asking about my game day experience suggestions. Going to take my time responding. Will consider Cesspool suggestions to include in response...

I wasn’t there so I don’t have much feedback other than to get a better backup QB

I figured playcalling and clock management was off the table for this purpose.
Damn I'm still salty about the clock management
-
I did get the dudes sitting behind me thinking about it and agreeing....

Dude, it’s not his fault. He’s still young and our OC has hindered his development. He had 14 completions for like 16 yards. That’s NOT his fault. I’ll reiterate that if he looks like that this time next year then I’ll jump on the “he sucks” bandwagon. Still way too early to tell.

It's been a few years for me, but the audio was ear drum splitting.

Well done. Well done.

I was casually watching in a super crowded bar environment with a bunch of people I know and didn’t catch the clock management issues. I was probably the only Illini fan in there. It was on one tv out of about 25 in this place and then it got switched to another game during halftime so I had to go and bitch about it to get it turned back on.

Should have floated the waitress a 20 to keep the game on. Did that on Martha's Vineyard for the Brandan Lloyd Cal game eons ago.

Sitkowski is already 22 years old. He’s a senior. He’s not a young college QB. He’s an experienced one that is what he is. You just hope he doesn’t lose you the game which he almost did with his INT inside the 5, and his almost fumble that could have been returned for a TD. Art/Devito is the difference in 3 games that could go either way (Minn, MSU, Purdue).
I don’t think Lunney is that much better or different than Peterson. The game plan is the same. Give it to Chase. Hope QB doesn’t lose you the game. The biggest disappointment on offense is Luke Ford. He must just suck at football
