Can you please ask why Dosunmu was misspelled on Ayo’s jersey the other night?

People have, on occasion, ridiculed my questions.

Also, I just got back from my walk.

No raw meat, but I found a Kindle-sized Google Tablet. Android 6.0.1 IIRC.

We've choked pretty hard against these guys in the Underwood era. How about we change that?

That's radical, man.

Should be a beat down. The BIG has a group of 3-4 teams that are Top 10 ish.
They have a large group of shitty teams also. This is one of them.

Illini by 13.

I agree that I don't think the big ten is as deep as everyone is claiming.

You'd want to know whether the B1G's worst teams could beat the ACC's third best teams.
Same for the Big 12.

And all of the WCC, MWC, Pac-12, etc.

The top 4 of the Big 10, Big 12, SEC are all better than the ACCs top 4.

I think tonight would be a good night to play Kofi and Giorgi together. Get some high-low action from them.

I hadn’t watched a second of Maryland basketball all season and didn’t really have a chance to do any research/watch fucking’s YouTube clips to get a better idea of who they are.

They played outstanding defense in the first half. They don’t have a physical answer for Kofi, but they’ve got some length and athleticism. They are getting in passing lanes, pushing us out, and locking down the perimeter. Also a great job of taking away the dribble drive/kick out. Kofi had lots of open looks once he caught the ball, but it wasn’t always easy to get the ball to him.

On offense the Illini were somewhat selfless to a fault in quite a few possessions. It’s like the opposite of the John Groce problem. I don’t know how many times we made the extra pass or two and it looked like we’d get an open shot, they’d close out and force another pass and all of a sudden we are up against the shot clock.

I really don’t know what to think of this team at this juncture. I think we have lots of good pieces that just aren’t working with a lot of coordination much of the time but when they do it’s a thing of beauty.

Maryland's gone cold and we haven't extended our advantage

Illinois isn’t playing down as they have in other games. Maryland is playing at a fairly high level in this game. Their length at the perimeter is a problem for us as we’ve seen in other close games or losses.

Their length certainly bothered us. Teams are taking AYOs right hand away.  Belo did not play well at all tonight. Trent dissappeared and we stopped feeding Kofi.

Maryland has beat Wisconsin, but I also have seen them dismantled by both Clemson and Iowa.

Maybe they play well against the Bruce Weber/John Groce stand around and watch offense?

They certainly had a decent defensive plan and effort.

We didn't put them away from 7 min to 2 min mark when they couldn't hit shit. We went away from Kofi. Ayo is very good scorer but had a lot of bad takes. 23 shots for him always means we are in trouble. He really has to take what they give him in flow of game, he can't manufacture points that well.

Bad loss.

Bad practices the past 2 days. Missed layups in practice equals missed layups in games, per Coach Underwood.

What a bad loss. Some many WTFs. Unless we can get two upsets on the road- forget about a big 10 title.

Giorgi has regressed about as much as any player I can remember from end of freshman year to middle of junior year.

Giorgi has regressed about as much as any player I can remember from end of freshman year to middle of junior year.

Yeah, he is a man without a real function in this unstructured offense. He is lost.
His role seems to be to give Kofi a few minutes blow at the 5 and sit down.
Hard to play them both as Georgi can't stay with athletic 4's or handle PnR, and cannot hit an outside shot. Teams can then drop down on Kofi easier.
G is best if he is at Center and gets a lot of minutes. Kofi playing a lot better now the last few games, so less tick.

We have some roster makeup issues and depth issues. We do not have a stretch 4 type to use with some height and length and athleticism. Would be good to get Hawkins or Grandison more involved and in there more.

We really play a small 4 guard lineup and Kofi.

We need a 3/4 type guy to develop off the bench.
When watching Iowa and others I think we are going to have match up issues. They can play much bigger than us and we are not uber athletic ot make up for our size issues.

Illinois has no good 4 which is huge in today’s game.

Rely way too much on talented inexperienced freshmen and limited upperclassmen. This team was better with Feliz and Griffin.

They can’t shoot free throws and don’t appear to run an actual offense.

Can’t get big stops on defense and critical defensive rebounds.

Take long stretches off mentally and physically.

Enjoy this season which will be the peak of Brad Underwhelm’s tenure at UIUC.

Well, that was not very nice.
LOL.

Agree we were better more balanced and much tougher team at end of last year.
Griffin loss was huge. And we had a little more size and length we could throw in there at times.
We have no bench right now, except Curbelo.

We have time to get it together, but better get moving now.

Controversial opinion (or maybe not)...

Kofi is really good....but I’d trade his skill set for an average center (a guy) and a good #3 with size and range all day without hesitation

Too much work sometimes to get him the ball and involved in the game.
