Location Columbus, Ohio (Ohio Stadium)(Judge Judy may still be at Chili's in Morgan Park)

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Illinois travels to #7 Ohio State in the Illini's first roadtrip and first Big Ten game of the 2026 season. Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. CT on FOX.
Illinois (2-1, 0-0 Big Ten) and Ohio State (2-1, 0-0 Big Ten) will battle for the Illibuck rivalry trophy, a wooden turtle that is presented to the winning team. The Illibuck started in 1924 as a live turtle, but the coveted turtle died in 1926 and was replaced by a series of wooden replicas inscribed with the winning score following each matchup. The current trophy is Illibuck XI.
Saturday will be the 105th meeting between the Fighting Illini and Ohio State in the overall series dating back to 1902, and the 93rd contest for the Illibuck rivalry trophy which officially began 1924. It will be Illinois' first visit to Columbus since 2017.
Ohio State has won 10 straight in the series dating back to Illinois' upset over #1-ranked Ohio State in Columbus in 2007.

Notes
The Illinois Offense
• WR Collin Dixon is among the top wide receivers in the nation:
» National leader in receiving touchdowns (7), the only player in the nation with seven receiving touchdowns
» First Big Ten player with seven receiving TDs through three games since 2004 (Taylor Stubblefield, Purdue)
» Broke Illinois' Gies Memorial Stadium record for receiving touchdowns in a season (7)
» Three touchdown receptions away from tying Illinois' single-season record of 10
» Fourth in the nation and second in the Big Ten in receptions (25)
» Sixth in the nation and third in the Big Ten in receiving yards (367)
» Fourth in the nation in total touchdowns (7), one back from three running backs tied for first with eight
• QB Katin Houser ranks 10th in the nation in ESPN's QBR metric (87.2) and ranks among the nation's top 20 quarterbacks in completion percentage (10th, 74.1), passing touchdowns (15th, 8), and passing efficiency (18th, 180.3).
• In the season-opening win over UAB, Houser had the eighth-best passing efficiency in a game in program history and the best ever in an Illini debut (224.6).
• WR Hudson Clement has caught a pass in 30 straight games, the sixth-longest active streak in the nation.
• Due to injuries, Illinois has been forced to start three different right guards through three games: Brandon Henderson, TJ McMIllen, and Champ Smith. Stanford is the only other team in the nation to have an OL spot with three starters through the team's first three games (also right guard).
The Illinois Defense
• DL Will Holmes is second in the nation among interior defensive linemen with a 22.2% pressure rate (data by PFF). Holmes ranks third in the nation among interior defensive linemen in total pressures (12).
• DB Matthew Bailey is the only player in the nation returning after leading his team in tackles in 2024 and 2025. Bailey is Illinois' second-leading tackler this season with 14.
• Bailey had an 88-yard interception return for a touchdown against Southern Illinois, the 9th-longest interception return in Illinois history and the 9th-longest interception return in Gies Memorial Stadium history (by either Illinois or an opponent).
The Battle for the Illibuck
• Saturday marks the 105th meeting between the Fighting Illini and Ohio State in the overall series dating back to 1902, and the 92nd contest for the Illibuck rivalry trophy which officially began in 1924.
• The Illibuck is the second-oldest rivalry trophy in the Big Ten, behind only The Little Brown Jug (Michigan-Minnesota) which dates back to 1909.
• "Illibuck" was a live turtle, but he died in 1926 and was replaced by a series of wooden replicas inscribed with the winning score following each matchup. The current trophy is Illibuck XI.
• Ohio State leads the overall series 70-30-4 with a 66-24-2 advantage in the battle for the Illibuck. {YIKES!}
• The two programs met on the gridiron every year from 1914 to 2002, and again for 11 straight seasons from 2005 to 2015. OSU's scheduled visit to Champaign, Nov. 28, 2020, was canceled because of an elevated number of COVID-19 cases within the Buckeyes' program.
• Illinois' last win over the Buckeyes was in 2007. It marked the first time the Illini beat a top-ranked team since 1956. The victory ended OSU's 29-game regular-season winning streak and 21-game Big Ten win streak. The Illini rushed for 260 yards against a Buckeyes defense that came in allowing just 65 yards per game on the ground. Rashard Mendenhall set an Illinois season record (1,402 yards at the end of the game) with 88 yards on 26 carries. Juice Williams threw for four touchdowns and led Illinois on a 16-play drive lasting the final 8:09 to close out the win.
• Ohio State has won 10 straight over Illinois dating back to 2007.

Brent: Greek, you messed up last week.
Jimmy: Yep, SIU sucks worse than I thought. Did have the over at least.
Brent: What do you have for us this week?
Jimmy: Pain for the Illini. Line opened Illini +28, the Illini +2050! on the money line, and o/u at 53.5. The sharps have bet it down to +27 or +27.5 and the o/u up to 54. Illini 1-2 ATS. OSU 3-0 ATS. Bet the house on Ohio State and the over. Ohio State will ass fuck Brett Bielema's Illini like Custard and Jobu do to their ladies!
Tempo's Kompendium of Krap this week sponsored by The Lion's Den! Off of I-57 near Beautiful Buckley it is the provider of butt plugs for Mrs. Custard!
Since our founding in 1971 in Columbus, Ohio, Lion's Den has been at the forefront of providing safe, sexy, and educational ways to express sexual freedom.
Meet Founder and CEO, Mike Moran. After graduating from Ohio State University, Mike opened the first Lion's Den storefront, pioneering a space for female customers and couples. Initially selling magazines and Ben Wa balls, the store quickly flourished.
By 1985, Lion's Den began expanding, and by 1990, it was clear that retail was more beneficial than traditional arcades. Shifting focus to retail, empowerment, and education, Lion's Den stood out. Mike recognized the industry's neglect of women and rebranded to be inclusive, making Lion's Den a leader in pleasure products for all.
Today, Lion's Den offers a modern, fun, and trendsetting shopping experience both online and in stores. Our knowledgeable team members are ready to assist and guide every customer.
Uh, Tempo, according to The Yelp, the location in Buckley is closed. The Yelp reviews are hilarious though.
The hot NFL news on The Twotter is that the New York Football Giants will trade for Justin Fields! You should grab him now for your Fantasy Football leagues while you have the chance!
I highly recommend Chili's for a first date. Their margaritas and queso are a staple for first dates. The Presidente Margarita at Chili's is a signature cocktail made with Lunazul Reposado Tequila, Citrónge Extra Fine Orange Liqueur, and E&J Brandy!
Yes, the margarita/queso/first date line is from an actual quote of Tempo's about Chili's.....I am no Adam Hoge twisting Tempo's quotes!
No tailgate segment as I will not be in attendance this week.....
Go Illini!

Love it, PMAN!
See you Saturday in Lot 46!

Let the assraping begin

The Dook loss hurt more than this one will. Bring seat cushions for the plane ride home and turn the page.

Fucking holding or pass interference on Ohio State that isn’t called. Such bullshit…
Clear pull on his jersey…
-
Good morning all. Our secondary appears to suck.
-
Nice response…
-
Good morning all. Our secondary appears to suck.
Not that it doesn’t, but Jeremiah Smith might be the best to ever play wide receiver at Ohio State…
-
Good morning all. Our secondary appears to suck.
Not to say that it doesn’t but our o line getting punked too
-
Our punter though…
-
Fuck me
-
Missed fucking tackles!!!!! 😡

When it’s 4th and 2, they decide to go for it, get a false start and still go for it, says a lot
Especially when they make it

We’ve had a lot of opportunities to make the stops and just came up short…

So you’re telling me there’s a chance…

Nope lol…

Had this one pegged as a 63-7 rout for OSU so I’m pleasantly surprised that it’s “only” 42-19.
Now the job is to find 4 more wins in the schedule
-
Went about as expected. Best QB/WR combo we'll see all season but 6-6 is going to take a bit of work with the remaining schedule.
-
That’s it. Not coming out next week. Going to the Bronco game instead
-
A 4th stringer at right guard and 460 yards got us a loss that everyone expected.
Beat Purdue.
-
After watching the SIU game I realized we're not very good and the results today were pretty expected. We are gonna struggle to make a bowl. I think Ohio State is also not very good compared to their usual teams.
-
I was watching on Fox 32. They ran a creepy, ominous pro-Trump campaign ad paid for by the US government. I guess they are calling it a PSA.
Anyone else see that?
-
OSU is not a playoff team right now
If Houser could throw a ball with some touch and our receivers could hold on to the ones he put on their facemasks this would have been a nail biter despite our shit defense.

Hot damn, was just talking about the Lion’s Den in Buckley a few nights ago.
These pregame posts always hit home with the references to my old stomping grounds-ish areas!
-
Braylen Trimble will complete those catches next year, but next year doesn't help this year.
Matthew Bailey had a great game. Unfortunately, the db's were missing or making all of the tackles.
Beat PU.
Beat MSU.
Beat Md.
Beat NU.

It was basically a rite of passage in that area to go there the day you turned 18. There was a big inflatable dick in the middle of the store back then with a sharpie on a string taped to it. The day I turned 18 I went in and saw one of my classmate’s dad’s signatures front and center. He was a state trooper that had some run-ins with soliciting sexual favors from women to get out of tickets.

End of OSU game, is that Josh Whitman (AD) walking next to Brett Bielema?

Too soon to say. We deserve the benefit of the doubt till after both seasons.
-
Hauck had to go, really should have never been hired to begin with. I’m stunned they pulled the trigger this early though.

Yes
Maybe, maybe not.
Yes. Early in the game I had mentioned to friends that I would be surprised if he was retained. Bielema didn't mince words about the defense after the game.
-
The GOP Senator from Missouri has solved it. The Illini Defense was at a Milwaukee Bucks game.
-
AI.
For Illinois football (2–2, through Sept. 26, 2026):
Time of possession: 27:11 per game — 125th nationally among 138 FBS teams.
College Football Ratings
Pass defense: 255.0 passing yards allowed per game — 119th nationally. Illinois has allowed 1,020 passing yards in four games.
fightingillini.com
So, in national ranking terms: TOP 125th, pass defense 119th.
College Football Ratings
Not ideal.

On second thought, at least we have hoops.
