Moretti cleared. Wait for dumbass comments ...

Maryland always brings their A game against us it seems.

Nice to have coaches on the floor let's fucking crush these damn turtles
-
Donta Scott and Jahmir Young are literally the only 2 we need to worry about and contain.
Scott cannot get going from 3, we need the ball out of Young's hands, and Reese is not even the best player in his family and he doesn't seem to be interested in playing half the time to me.
ILLINI 82-Maryland 68
-
A typical 2010-2020+ illini team would be due for a loss and would stumble tomorrow.
A team destined to be the first Illinois sweet sixteen participant in 19 years wins.
Let's see what happens.
-
No surprise Nichi started this thread given the news that Nico has been cleared. I hope we beat them so bad they he gets big minutes.

Quincy on Scott. Rodgers on Young.

So predictable.
-
Quincy on Scott. Rodgers on Young.
Scott is more mobile than most think, I would rather have Hawkins guard him, Quincy stay more inside for better rebounding, and agree with Rodgers on Young.
-
They can't score. Only way they compete is game in mid 60s.
Should be a snoozer unless somebody is having a career night and we are ice cold.
They were a pre season top half pick.
Hopefully they do not start to figure shit out today.
-
Goode living up to his last name in the early going
-
Starting to get a little sloppy
-
They’re eating us alive in the paint. 20 points in the paint for the Terps.
-
Huge minutes from Dain there. And hit 3/4 of his free shots!
-
How the Fugg was the Reese landing on him not a foul....WOW.
Young/Reese are killing us both inside points for most part.
Goode is playing well,
Domask trying to do too much, unselfish to a fault so far
Hawkins, head case coming into play
Harmon nothing so far
Rodgers, he will get his
Dainja should play more in 2nd imo, I don't think Maryland has anyone that can match up with his skill set inside.
-
We're getting outworked everywhere. Hawkins with 0 pts in 12 minutes. Rodgers with 3.
They played well other than their 3 pt shots. We didn't other than our 3 pt shots.
-
Golden Opportunity to move up in rankings (warranted or not based on teams above us), with all the losses already. C'mon ILLINI get your shit together, outta be blowing out his team literally.,

This is pretty valid ^^^^^
-
Gotta keepthem Maryland boys out of the paint. They’re cutting us to death. Make them shoot threes over us
-
Yeah we’ve given them a layup line…
-
Yeah we’ve given them a layup line…
And it’s continuing
-
Our defense has been horrible…
-
They can't score.
Should be a snoozer unless somebody is having a career night and we are ice cold.
I almost asked if you're new here. :D
-
We’re blowing easy transition points now
-
We better step it up because this is pathetic…
-
Reese with the double double.
-
Nothing falling for us
-
They’re just kicking our ass…
-
Why the fuck does Maryland always look like rock stars against us?
-
Gross
-
6/16 on layups is a stat I didn't expect to see for today's game
-
Also our rebounding has turned to shit the last few games what gives
-
Gonna have to go on a tear in the time that's left. We're shooting 17% for the half.
-
Apparently Underwood wants DGL to transfer.
-
Apparently Underwood wants DGL to transfer.
Think he’s trying to win basketball games
-
There goes Hawkins
-
Epitome of ILLINI basketball it seems....24 + FT attempts and still can't win a home game against a sub-par opponent.
NO WAY the Terps should be winning/won this game....down to 15 or lower after this showing.
-
These refs have been quite suspect today
-
Apparently Underwood wants DGL to transfer.
DGL would only make this game worse if he were playing. He is not ready for this kind of adversity....well then again most it seems aren't on the Orange side.
-
Guerrier Darnell Mooneyed that.
-
These refs have been quite suspect today
That can happen when you're being outplayed everywhere
-
That can happen when you're being outplayed everywhere
Yeah we aren't doing ourselves any favors either
-
Unbelievably shit tastic effort today guys. That's a L at home.... unbelievable
-
How good were the 2006 Illini if you took Dee Brown off the team?
-
Well that’s a bad loss…
-
We have no bench. Soon as we ran out of gas they just ran us off our home floor.
Pretty pathetic.
-
2nd chance pts. 30-9?
-
Easily the worst played game this entire year by our ILLINI, disjointed, uninspired, lack of strength on boards/loose balls, lack of understanding that Young WANTS to go left for crying out loud.
Domask for all his offensive game today hurts us with some very bad forced throws to other players...mostly Marylands. He has been good this year to say the least but his turnovers were bad.
Hawkins regressed other than defense....really lost on offensive end imo
Guerrier no offense to speak of
Goode was only that way early
Harmon well, nothing to note
Dain played well for a few minutes, it was only that though.
Move on, regroup, but a golden opportunity was lost today...this one will sting later as well for us.
-
Why was coach Anderson jawing with Rees in the handshake line? Embarrassing
-
Maryland owns us. This dates back to even before they joined the conference. No matter who the coaches or players are they always present a match up problem for us.
That being said you can’t give up 52 points in the paint. You can’t go 6/25 or whatever it was on layups and expect to win. Worst defensive effort of the year easily.
-
These refs have been quite suspect today
Can't bring that into the equation today, they were terrible both ends, but the ILLINI had ALOT of fouls called their way. ILLINI just got punked today.
-
Have to wonder if the team was still feeling the effects of the Pizza Hut parking lot fight on Thursday. We just looked a step or two slow all game and then finally ran out of steam in the 2nd half.
-
This is exactly the game I worried about happening after Shannon's suspension just a few games later. Stomped in the 2nd half, shot like garbage, and a refusal to adjust and use a deeper bench.
-
Yeah Tim Anderson wouldn’t shake Reese’s hand in the line after the game and Reese took offense to it and started jawing.
-
Underwood now 2-7 vs Maryland at Illinois…

Agree with all of this except that part about a deep bench...we don't have that, and at one time we thought we did.
Literally only Dainja off the bench, Harmon as well, not today, and then.........
-
We lost an All-American. What did you guys think would happen?

We’re still better than we played today. This should’ve been a win, even without TSJ.
-

Here’s why apparently…

And guess what? We still have to go to College Park next month. That’s a for sure L.

There are days like this when TJS could have been the difference maker.

Underwood: the team started thinking they were good and forgot why they were good.

And that's a good formula for losing 2 or 3 in a row. At Michigan next
-
Hopefully, this game was a wake up call.

MD has talent. Were picked in top group of league before season for a reason. Have stunk on offense all year.
They do have a very good lead guard and a talented post and decent wing and they play pretty good defense.
Should be a good team on paper. Maybe they are getting it together.
They had one of their best games all year on offense and we were 9/40 in second half.
And we were just not ready mentally today and had a letdown. It happens. Just wish it wasn't a home loss.
We have played at such an inspired level in last few games it is hard to be pissed.
It is not a league with several Top 25 teams, but it is well scouted and anyone can still beat you if you fuck the dog.
Have to get ready for UM Away and expect it to not be easy.

He's pretty good at making layups

And playing defense.

I imagine have an All-American available would have greatly increased our odds of winning today.

Anyone who thinks we’re still in line for a 1-3 seed is pretty much kidding themselves. Right now I would absolutely sign up for a 5 seed and be quite happy about it.
-
Had to miss the game. Only 7 guys got minutes with Dainja at 10 min.
Not much of a bench at the mid season point?

Are you suggesting that Underachiever practice recruiting more?
-
I am no UW fan, but have to give him and staff and, of course, the team credit for their effort and adjustments after losing TSj.
I don't think it was a dead cat bounce.
We are a solid team but they have to rebound and play D. We are slipping in those areas.
I am still not sure where we will settle in on offense.
We had everyone over achieving for several games.
Hopefully we do not revert to early year offense struggles.
I am concerned about the lack of use of the bench. It's a long year.

When good teams get to the meat of the season they’re typically playing 8 or fewer. We’ve got two guys who’ve been hurt in Hansberry and Moretti, and, of course, an All American who is suspended. Hansberry probably could have helped us yesterday with interior D and rebounding.

Agree for sure on shorter rotations.
Certainly no TSj has created issues as he was 33 mpg and he was playing very good D and AA offense.
Hansberry might have helped give guys a blow at least but not sure how much he would have helped on D.
Young was getting into lane at will, and Reese really handled Hawkins.
I think they should have put Guerrier on Reese a little bit as he is stronger and more physical.
Moretti might be useful later in season to create offense in half court.
We will just need to figure it out.

Lou Henson used to say he hated playing a team that just lost its star player, because everyone else steps up their game. He added that the bump lasts 2 or 3 games and reality sets in.
I think this team has enough talent to still be good, but could have been more than good.
