Game is on Channel 2. Hope Johnny Morris and Tim Ryan are doing the game.
Mooney out. Must be tired of not catching balls that land right in his arms.
-
I think Kmet looks to be out, too. A couple weeks ago I was penciling this in as a win, but this will be a tough game. Atlanta might finally be figuring out how to use their weapons, and hearing they play a little defense. But I’ll stick with my original 24-13 Bears prediction. I think the defense shows up.
-
We'll also get to see the guy you wanted the Bear to draft, Bijan Robinson.
-
If Bijan goes for 200 total yards and 2 tuddies you might get your wish for a new coaching staff fulfilled.

Who is QB for the Falcon these days?
-
Just saw the latest injury report and apparently Kmet is trending in the right direction.
-
Which is good because Robert Tonyan is awful. Can’t catch and saw him pull up before contact on a sweep block in the A22.

Another post in support of Poles....
-
There isn’t a single GM anywhere who hits on every move. If you bat 70% you’re probably doing great.
-
Tonyan was probably always a stopgap. One year deal if I’m not mistaken.
-
Draft Brock Bowers!
-
Seems like the Falcon have something to play for as a game behind the Bucs for division lead. Granted, I have not looked up the tie breakers for that division. When people here are done studying Kansas criminal statutes, maybe they can do that for me. BigPA10Man representing...

Poles has as long a way to go to get to 70% as Fields does to get to a career .500 Win-Loss record.
-
Poles is doing a fantastic job, overall.

We should remember this post when he dumps Fields for the 6 footballs impaled on the Arizona Wildcat Turnover Sword.
-
That Browns loss was such a nut punch. Realistically, the Bears should be 8-7 or 9-6. Gotta learn to finish. Not surprising a young team digging its way out of the last year and a half would have a bumpy path. Clear progress is being made, though.

The Iraqi Defense Ministry PR guy comes to mind here.

Draft Brock Bowers!
I don’t know much about Bowers but definitely support drafting a big good TE if they can
-

Can’t. We need linemen.
-
Can’t. We need linemen.
Can Bowers block? Kmet seems to have to block a lot since the line is so great and they only need a center.
-
The Iraqi Defense Ministry PR guy comes to mind here.
So you don’t think they probably should have won the Denver, Detroit, Cleveland games 90 something percentile to win all three?
-
Can Bowers block? Kmet seems to have to block a lot since the line is so great and they only need a center.
I think I have read that he’s adequate at it, but I would not be drafting him in the upper half of the first round to block.
-
I can only say so many million times that the offensive line is still young, and I expect them to improve with experience and more playing time together
-
Can Bowers block? Kmet seems to have to block a lot since the line is so great and they only need a center.
In-line tight ends are asked to block fairly frequently, so I don’t know what to tell you
-
Can’t. We need linemen.
I wasn’t talking to PAMan I was talking to you.
-
I wasn’t talking to PAMan I was talking to you.
I know I was being snarky and making fun of PA man I would love to have Brock Bowers
-
George Kittle is a great receiving tight end and he’s asked to block a lot and he’s really damn good at it
-
George Kittle is a great receiving tight end and he’s asked to block a lot and he’s really damn good at it
He went to Iowa though.
-
Eddie Jackson, Cody Whitehair, Darnell Mooney, all probably playing their last home game as Bears. Also Justin Fields possible as well (although I think the tea leaves are hinting he’s back).
Bob Tonyan probably playing his last home game as a Bear, too.
-
Well not gonna see much passing today to see what Fields can do. Regardless, the staff and GM have already made their decision on him (whatever that is) I’m sure.
-
How do you not secure the edge against Bijan Robinson? Bears got a little lucky on that opening Falcons drive.
-
I know it’s mostly working since they are inside the 5, but the playcalling is horrendous.
-
Very nice throw on the TD. Bears lucky they false started to keep that drive alive
-
I know it’s mostly working since they are inside the 5, but the playcalling is horrendous.
Oh Jesus, shut up…
Good drive there by Fields and play calling was fine.
-
Wow, I absolutely hated most of those play calls, but they worked!
Beautiful throw and catch to Moore in the end zone.
Caleb Williams would have asked for the day off and a ticket to Miami.
-
I know it’s mostly working since they are inside the 5, but the playcalling is horrendous.
A slant route would’ve been fantastic, but Fields has proven he can’t throw them, so what’s the OC supposed to do?!
-

Just pathetic, embarrassing shit from you

Already excuses about the play calling and players out just in case…

He has? I think you’re making that up (pulling that out of your ass).

Here’s a fuck you just in case.

CFFs didn’t like the post.
-
You’re insufferable already…
Just trying to fit in.
-
Here’s a fuck you just in case.
Literally the first 5 minutes of the game (not even one whole drive) and you’re already saying shit about the play calling. We all see what you’re doing, man. Hell I even complimented Fields for that drive. Looked good all around. Especially in shitty conditions.
-
CFFs didn’t like the post.
Another word for that type of fan is “Bears fan”.
Yeah, I thought it was a pretty cringey embarrassing post.
-
Hey it worked, so guess I was wrong. Shotgun and a bunch of drop backs seemed curious, but they worked.
Hated the delay on the run at the goal line. Never like giving the defense more time to react in short yardage.
-
Just trying to fit in.
Pretty similar to what you do with Fields - sure I’m acting like a six year old but it’s everybody else’s fault.
-
Defense a little soft to start.
-

Hey my opinion is the only one that matters. If you disagree with me you’re wrong…
Well, also JT O’Sullivan
-
Your defense will win you this game. Would love to see some power football from the Bears.
-
Good to see the real truth come out in your user name, Tempo.
-
Another word for that type of fan is “Bears fan”.
Yeah, I thought it was a pretty cringey embarrassing post.
So CFF = Bears fan?
Jesus, it was a joke. You guys are wound so tight.
-
So CFF = Bears fan?
Jesus, it was a joke. You guys are wound so tight.
It was a “joke”, but also you believe it. Quite literally indistinguishable than any number of real posts you’ve made about him lol
-
So CFF = Bears fan?
Jesus, it was a joke. You guys are wound so tight.
You know your opinions and stance on Fields is really crazy whenever we can’t tell if it’s a joke or for real, right?
-
Wow, Justin and DJ have amazing chemistry. What a great catch.
-
Really nice throw there to DJ, amazing catch too
-
Only made one DFS lineup for this afternoon and took DJ out because of the weather :-/
-
Fields has looked pretty good so far. If his first option is open it’s money. It’s the progressions when it’s not is the issue.
-
It’s shit like that, why are we running VJ up the middle in short yardage? Too cute.
-
Fields has looked pretty good so far. If his first option is open it’s money. It’s the progressions when it’s not is the issue.
The play to Roschon was probably his 4th progression
-
I’m not saying Justin doesn’t need to get better at progressions, but it’s not as bad as you guys say.
-
The play to Roschon was probably his 4th progression
It was literally a check down yeah
-
It was literally a check down yeah
Still part of his progressions.
-
Both QBs have had a lot of time to throw so far
-
Still part of his progressions.
I mean, sure. It wasn’t some impressive read and throw though, he had a ton of time to throw and found a check down totally uncovered.
-
The play to Roschon was probably his 4th progression
It was a simple check down. Not necessarily a “progression” lol. Even if the first option isn’t there, he could’ve done that.
Edit- and Fields has looked pretty damn good today passing.
-
OMG a QB draw! Been wanting to see that for 12 weeks.
-
Great run from Fields, one of the more obvious holds I’ve ever seen though
-
It was a simple check down. Not necessarily a “progression” lol. Even if the first option isn’t there, he could’ve done that.

Mn is very proud of your nitpick.
-
I don’t understand why they almost never call the QB draw.
-

Mn is probably pretty proud of your little nitpick…
-
I don’t understand why they almost never call the QB draw.
And again…
-
Mn is very proud of your nitpick.
Dude, you tried to use a wide open check down as an example of Fields getting through his progression well.
Come on, surely you can make arguments in support of Fields without that kind of ridiculous shit right? Why undercut the point you’re trying to make by stretching for an example like that?
-
I mean, sure. It wasn’t some impressive read and throw though, he had a ton of time to throw and found a check down totally uncovered.
Right, but he stayed in the pocket and found a receiver, didn’t just tuck and run. Which shows growth. I’m not saying it was an all-world play.
-
Oof
-
Right, but he stayed in the pocket and found a receiver, didn’t just tuck and run. Which shows growth. I’m not saying it was an all-world play.
Correct, it’s pretty much baseline level qb play.
-
Have to admit, I did not have 6 for 7 with 104 yards 1 passing 1 rushing TD barely into the 2nd quarter on my bingo card.
Defense is not playing well to start.
-
Yikes on the defense on that screen 😬
-
Correct, it’s pretty much baseline level qb play.
And I never said it was anything special.
-
Just like that Falcons back in the game. SMH
-
Brisker and EJ could get loafs for that play.
-
Whoa, that was just about a pick 6 😱
-
Have to admit, I did not have 6 for 7 with 104 yards 1 passing 1 rushing TD barely into the 2nd quarter on my bingo card.
Defense is not playing well to start.
Fields has undoubtedly been very very good so far today. Hated that fumble that got called back obviously but that’s the only mistake so far in my memory
-
After one really good season, Eddie Jackson can fuck off and take a hike. He’s the laziest player I know and is scared to tackle.
-
And I never said it was anything special.
Well, you used it as an example of Fields getting through his progressions well.
If you can’t do that you don’t even make it to the nfl. It’s the bare minimum type play
-

Well I’ve been told he’s not an NFL quarterback quite a few times, so…
-
Well I’ve been told he’s not an NFL quarterback quite a few times, so…
“People intentionally trolling me said some stupid shit so I say stupid shit to you” isn’t very good reasoning.
I believe PAMan has said that to you. He is literally a troll. Always.
-
That LB wasn’t moving until he saw Fields move. That’s such a valuable thing he brings to the table. Need to find ways to take advantage of that more often.
-
I like a deep ball here
-
Why are we throwing to Blasingame? SMH
-
That was a good progression to Tonyan there.
-
Let’s get the TD and have the defense step up to make this an easy win! LFG!
-
Nice catch and run by Herbert. Love that.
-
Why are we throwing to Blasingame? SMH
We more threw it near him :)
But again, very few mistakes like that so far. Best half Fields has played since week 5 IMO
-
Minus the blown screen by the defense, this is winning football. Especially in Chicago in December.
-
We more threw it near him :)
But again, very few mistakes like that so far. Best half Fields has played since week 5 IMO
Can’t imagine that’s wrong. Not much to complain about.
-
I don’t really have any complaints on his play today so far.
-
Would love to get a quick 3 and out and at least get a FG to make this a 3 score game at the half.
-
Come on, defense. Make this easy.
-
lol what teams do we need to win today? Giants only one I remember for sure.
-
Great throw. Bears could have picked it. Jaylon maybe hurt.
-
Taylor sucks. Gotta be a better returner than that somewhere. SMH
-
Just run some power football here
-
Maybe mix in deep play action if it presents itself
-
Telling you right now, I would be willing to trade that 2nd 1st for Creed Humphrey. Not sure KC would take it, but that’s a very nice return on a Center. And to a team that might be looking to add 1st round talent at a skill position.
-
How many times do I have to say it, they cannot block it up on obvious passing downs.
-

Sounded like Fields adjusted the protection at the line
-
How did they not get Heinicke down on that play?
-
Sounded like Fields adjusted the protection at the line
I’m sure it was his fault
-
I’m sure it was his fault
I didn’t say that, but you definitely immediately assumed it wasn’t.
The announcers (credible!) also mentioned it
-
He thought about that backhand shit on that throw away - maybe he’s learning you just can’t do that. That’d be a positive development.
-
Throw it down field
-
I didn’t say that, but you definitely immediately assumed it wasn’t.
The announcers (credible!) also mentioned it
Dude, that play was totally blown up. I’ve seen that happen enough to know that it’s not fields’ his fault.
-
Man, fuck this shit
-
How is it that he never fucking gets those calls?
-
Don’t like kicking here
-
JFC
That would’ve been disastrous
-
Dude, that play was totally blown up. I’ve seen that happen enough to know that it’s not fields’ his fault.
Very well might not have been - but he definitely adjusted the protection presnap, so I don’t think there’s any way for either of us to know whether he fucked up or the lineman did.
-
Stupid decision to kick, that never had a chance
-
That was almost disasterous for the Bears
-
55 yards into what the announcers are saying is the tougher conditions? SMH
-
What I loved most was them playing for a 55 yard FG like it’s a chip shot
-
I didn’t say that, but you definitely immediately assumed it wasn’t.
The announcers (credible!) also mentioned it
There were 3 Falcons in the pocket before he reached the top of his drop. That’s not on Fields.
-
There were 3 Falcons in the pocket before he reached the top of his drop. That’s not on Fields.
There was obviously a miscommunication on the line resulting in an interior free runner. Fields adjusted the protection pre-snap. We don’t and likely won’t know which person’s fault it was, but it wasn’t like that guy just beat the linemen. He ran free because of a miscommunication.
I love how you disregard that, which the announcers acknowledged (and you could hear Fields do it before the play), but then later you use some thing the announcers said that you agreed with as evidence you were right :)
Pretty perfect Tempoing. A guy is credible when he agrees with me, and the same guy isn’t credible when he doesn’t
-

Literally cannot even acknowledge the possibility that Fields might be at fault in one bad play in a game he’s looked great in. No reason can get through to someone that dug in.
-
bUt iM sUrE TeMpO kNoWS mOrE abOut O LiNe PlAy tHaN RoSS tUcKeR
He said there was a change, that doesn’t mean it was the wrong one. We’ve seen it a million times this line can’t pass block on obvious passing downs.
-
Literally cannot even acknowledge the possibility that Fields might be at fault in one bad play in a game he’s looked great in. No reason can get through to someone that dug in.
Literally have to go out of your way to (perhaps) lay blame at Fields for 3 Falcons blowing up their guy immediately.
-
3 Falcons in the backfield almost immediately. Couldn’t possibly be the line’s fault, amirite?
-
He said there was a change, that doesn’t mean it was the wrong one. We’ve seen it a million times this line can’t pass block on obvious passing downs.
Yes, he said that Fields adjusted the protection at the line.
Which is also what I said and you argued with me, because it’s an acknowledgement that Fields MIGHT have had some fault in one bad play in the best game he’s played in weeks and you simply cannot acknowledge that Fields might deserve any blame for anything ever.
-
3 Falcons in the backfield almost immediately. Couldn’t be the line’s fault, amirite?
I didn’t say that, but then again you constantly lie about what I say so obviously unsurprised you are doing it again.
I pretty explicitly said neither of us can know who’s fault the miscommunication was, not that you give a shit. That was too much for you - an acknowledgement that Fields might have deserved some blame for the play. Can’t allow even the possibility of Fields taking any blame for anything, ever.
-
I didn’t say that, but you definitely immediately assumed it wasn’t.
The announcers (credible!) also mentioned it
The point is we couldn’t just chalk it up to bad blocking. Had to point out that Fields could be to blame. Lame.
-
Literally have to go out of your way to (perhaps) lay blame at Fields for 3 Falcons blowing up their guy immediately.
You’re literally completely incapable of making an argument against me without lying about what I said. You can’t do it.
-
The point is we couldn’t just chalk it up to bad blocking. Had to point out that Fields could be to blame. Lame.
I acknowledged, as the pro O Lineman calling the game did, that the adjustment Fields made could’ve played into the obvious miscommunication - yeah. Cuz I’m watching the game and that happened.
You are just incredibly defensive about anyone telling any truth that doesn’t make Fields out to be a future Hall of Famer. You don’t allow it.

I like taking a deep shot here on 1st or 2nd.

Ugh, and there it was. Terrible throw.
-
Let’s get rid of that guy immediately.
More piss poor blocking on an obvious passing down.
-

Everyone can see that I pointed out something obvious that you interpreted as something that COULD BE a mild criticism in a game where I’ve been praising him all day and got incredibly defensive about it.
Pretend otherwise if you want, the posts are still there.

Unreal escape from Fields there

Just can’t acknowledge the unbelievable play without mentioning the previous bad one.

Don’t think anyone’s really ever questioned that bit, he’s great as a runner.
-
And you wonder why I’m defensive
Sorry there’s no way you’re doing this about me calling a throw bad that you called terrible, right?
Not even you would be that absurd
-
Couldn’t possibly make this work with upgrades to the line and MHj.
-
Just can’t acknowledge the unbelievable play without mentioning the previous bad one.
If only I had literally done that
Not that you ever have given a shit what I said ever but man
The demand here is that I never acknowledge the bad plays ever
-

Crap play call
-
My first comment on the bad play; “There have been few enough of them”
My first comment on the good play; “Unreal escape from Fields there”.
Tempo loses his mind about how unfair I am.
Just a total mouth breather some times

The shit in here today is precisely why I do not comment on Bears anymore.
And, now that Squeaky is back, no reason to be here at all.

Correct. And you’re proving it again right now, by being mad that I acknowledged a bad throw and also a great play with his legs. Even though I’ve been praising him all day, even having already said that the bad pass I mentioned had been a rare occurrence.
Proving my point absolutely perfectly

Hey good job, you managed to compliment him without also criticizing him. This is progress.

I have never once mentioned Justin Fields and the Hall of Fame so shovel your bullshit elsewhere
-
Hey good job, you managed to compliment him without also criticizing him. This is progress.
Yep but Fields #1 Defender fucking lost his mind about it how I didn’t right afterwards
Idiot.
-
Yes, you’ve praised him a fair bit today. You’ve also pointed out any and all possible mistakes as well.
-
I have never once mentioned Justin Fields and the Hall of Fame so shovel your bullshit elsewhere
Yes you have - the criticism you offered after one of his stinkers was “he didn’t play at a hall of fame level”, that was as harsh as you’d be. Don’t let the truth get in your way though
-
Yes, you’ve praised him a fair bit today. You’ve also pointed out any and all possible mistakes as well.

-
Yes you have - the criticism you offered after one of his stinkers was “he didn’t play at a hall of fame level”, that was as harsh as you’d be. Don’t let the truth get in your way though
It’s amazing that you accuse me of twisting your words and are so brazenly unaware of your doing the same.
-
You were never a name-caller only more proof on how you’ve devolved as a poster
If I was you I’d make an excuse and blame everyone else like you do every time you’re called out, but yeah I’ll own it, I name call when someone is being extremely stupid and frustrating me. That’s on me to not be better.
You’re trying to come after me for being unfair, but what you really mean is that I acknowledge the bad with the good. You demand that the only fair way to discuss Fields is to exclusively talk about the good things and excuse away any mistakes, and that’s what we’ve been fighting about all year.
Today has been great - when he’s great I’m not like scared to acknowledge it. But the truth is it’s the first time in a long time that’s been true, and you haven’t acknowledged any of those times - you excuse it every single time.
-
Thank you for acknowledging every bad and possibly bad play that field has made today your contributions are notable
-
It’s amazing that you accuse me of twisting your words and are so brazenly unaware of your doing the same.
If I provide you with a link to a post where you said exactly that will you apologize and look in the mirror?
I can surely go back and find it but I’m not going to do that if you are just going to keep pretending
-
I’m almost looking forward to the game threads when and if Caleb Williams is quarterback
-
Oh fuck that would’ve been a great catch, but that throw was amazing
-
Thank you for acknowledging every bad and possibly bad play that field has made today your contributions are notable
You are still whining about a drop from a backup TE multiple weeks ago - how can you even type this shit with a straight face?
I acknowledge when he makes great plays and when he makes bad plays. I always have. Of the two of us, I have done that FAR more consistently than you. You have defended his bad plays all season and blamed them on everyone else.
-
That would’ve been an incredible touchdown
-
I’ll give it to Fields. He’s put the ball where it’s needed to be today.
-
I’m almost looking forward to the game threads when and if Caleb Williams is quarterback
I think everyone recognizes you are really excited to completely flip what you expect of a QB when it’s his first NFL start instead of his 38th.
It’s pretty fucking stupid though obviously.
-
Should we go for it here touchdown could just about put this out of reach
-
I was kind of hoping they’d go for it but kicking it was the smart play
-
Crowd didn’t like it but FG was absolutely the right call there
-
I think everyone recognizes you are really excited to completely flip what you expect of a QB when it’s his first NFL start instead of his 38th.
It’s pretty fucking stupid though obviously.
I guess I’ll just have to wait until his 30th game before I can criticize him
-
Kicking it to go up 3 scores is absolutely the right call.
-
Not that that was an easy catch at all, but damn I wish Scott had caught that.
Think I saw Poles texting the Washington GM
-
I guess I’ll just have to wait until his 30th game before I can criticize him
I mean, that’s certainly the standard you’ve put forth. 36-40 starts and he’s still Teflon. Can’t even acknolwedge a bad play in a great game, as you’ve made clear a couple times today
I am pretty confident you will be much more amenable to excuses for a 4th year Fields next year than a rookie Caleb Williams
-
But for real who do we need to win today? I think we need the Giants and the Saints?
-
Not that that was an easy catch at all, but damn I wish Scott had caught that.
Think I saw Poles texting the Washington GM
Would be perfect Bears to stick with Fields because he finally plays well for the first time in weeks in a meaningless game against a sub .500 team
He was great today, but the opportunity to prove he can be consistently above average is gone. As Cowher said before the game if you still have questions after year 3 he isn’t your guy
-

One thing is for sure if we have a new quarterback, next year, his situation will be light years ahead of what Justin Fields stepped into

Hey man, keep the positivity flowing. The odds are trending that he’s back.
-
One thing is for sure if we have a new quarterback, next year, his situation will be light years ahead of what Justin Fields stepped into
Again, we all recognize your mile long list of excuses will only apply to Fields and not a rookie QB next year.
But there’ll be injuries next year, and drops, and a ton of new faces no matter who the QB is. Probably a new OC, maybe a new HC. Remember those things were excuses for Fields to be mediocre most of his third season.

PAManJr shit here.
-
Gotta pick that Tremaine.
-
Hey man, keep the positivity flowing. The odds are trending that he’s back.
Yep - an obvious and easily avoidable mistake, as the Bears are so wont to make.
If Eberflus is back, Fields will probably be back. And the Bears will be disappointing again next year.
-

You are doing more to ruin these game threads than I am, by a lot
-
PAManJr shit here.
What, you think you know more about football than Bill Cowher? He also called Williams a generational prospect.
He’s credible surely you couldn’t disagree with him unless you think you know better than he does
-
Justin Jones, idiot move.
-
You are doing more to ruin these game threads than I am, by a lot
Definitely not true, although it’s definitely nice to have him finally play well and not have to read your ridiculous excuses for him over and over. He has been great today.
-
Can’t have that shit
-
Why is he still on the field?
-
Unbelievably stupid
-
That idiotic ripping off of the helmet just put the falcons back in the game how in the fuck is 93 still on the field?
-
Come on, Flus. Hold people accountable.
-
This is like exactly the point the Bears have fucked it up consistently this year.
Need to go get points here to put this shit to bed
-
Just an unforgivable penalty. SMH
-
Yep - an obvious and easily avoidable mistake, as the Bears are so wont to make.

Bookmarked.

His opinion is credible. It’s not a be all/end all.
-
Heinicke was running like his feet were grounded in cement and they still couldn’t catch his ass
-
I am so fucking mad about that penalty. Fuck.
-
How does DJ get that wide open? really mad I took him out of my DFS lineup because of the weather.
-
We cannot run up the middle
-
Bookmarked.
Too bad you didn’t bookmark all the shit you said last year and off-season hahah.
But yeah, if Flus and Fields are back I expect the Bears to be disappointing. There’s no reason they shouldn’t pretty firmly be a playoff team next year.
-
His opinion is credible. It’s not a be all/end all.
He’s no Chase Daniel for sure
-
Fuck. Lucas Patrick. Again…
-
Horrible call. No chance to make that play.
-
Bad holding call on that
-
Refs are making it tough on the Bears today
-
Shit, Moore in the tent again.
-
He’s no Chase Daniel for sure
Just a credible opinion. No be all/end all. I’ll bet you a million dollars Cowher isn’t watching the A22 like Daniel, though.
-
That fucking holding call was a back breaker
-
Just a credible opinion. No be all/end all. I’ll bet you a million dollars Cowher isn’t watching the A22 like Daniel, though.
Yeah Chase Daniel definitely more credible
-
That fucking holding call was a back breaker
Everyone has bad calls against them.
Gotta fight through it. They are up 10 in the fourth quarter.
-
All right, get this offensive line lathered up with run plays kill this clock
-
Go Cardinals!
-
Are you effing kidding me with that play?
-
Another absurd escape from Fields
-
Run that play again only with Justin, keeping it there was literally nobody to the left side of the field
-
Bears are officially #1 again!
-
Why let Fields air it out on those last two plays?
-
Perfectly thrown ball, just tight coverage. No need to throw there really.
-
I am on Justin Jones’ ass in film review if Im Flus. Cant have dumb penalties like that when trying to close out a game.
-
That was awesome by Gordon.
-
You’d be fucking nuts to hand this team off to Caleb Williams. Trade that pick and build a roster that will be built to win for 5-7 years. JMO.
-
Really…
-
Yes the smart move is to move forward with a guy who has shown zero ability to be consistently above average over 38 starts and will be expensive to keep a year from now.
Recency bias is extremely strong so I’m sure everyone will do like you’re doing and forget Fields has been mediocre as fuck for weeks coming into today and they’ll keep Flus and Fields, with another new OC.
It’s begging to be disappointing next year, and I’m sure they will be.
-
We’re really looking to throw deep up 20 with less than 2 minutes left. SMH
-

It won’t be, because to keep the QB you will need to hamstring the rest of your spending.
The Fields window is undoubtedly shorter.
-

The Bears are young and would have a lot of draft picks and have a cheap left tackle. They are not a slave to the rookie contract.

The Bears are young and would have a lot of draft picks and have a cheap left tackle. They are not a slave to the rookie contract.
Paying any dude a $100m+ deal is undeniably going to hamstring their ability to get / keep the other playmakers on the roster, just like it has with other teams (even teams paying better guys that much).
Fields better prove he’s good enough to lift guys that aren’t elite talent if they end up giving him a big deal.
At this point we’re hoping he can look like he did today more than once every 4-6 games.
-
Giants almost pulled it off today. CBS just showed the Bears still “in the hunt?”
-
Yeah Chase Daniel definitely more credible
Really?
-
Trading out of that top pick could be our “Herschel Walker trade.” It makes so much sense to do it.
-
There just isn’t a way for it to make sense to me.
It’s obviously a near ideal scenario if Justin Fields had shown out this year and proven he could be the guy with some consistency, but he undeniably didn’t do that.
I know you think I just hate Fields like PAMan (who is mostly just trolling you) but I was fully supportive of trading the top pick a year ago with the idea that Fields would finally show he could be a consistently good passer in the NFL. He just didn’t. The jump I expected, that you sold all last year and off-season here, did not materialize.
The Bears have never had the top pick in the SB era until last year. Now they’ve had two in a row. The idea of passing on a top QB twice to keep a guy who just hasn’t actually been very good as a quarterback yet is really, really frustrating.
-
There just isn’t a way for it to make sense to me.

“Undeniably” even though a lot of analysts have said otherwise. Did he stuff the stat sheet with passing numbers? No. Did he “show out?” Many think he did. Not that it couldn’t have been better.
-

Any analyst that watched him this year and says he showed he could be a good quarterback consistently is a fucking moron.
You are still selling the hope he might become that - anyone saying that has already happened has not watched this dude. He was mediocre or worse for most of this season.
-
Trade that pick and get several high picks and MHJ. It’s a no-brainer. You don’t have to take a QB #1 to find one.
-

I agree it’s a no brainer. The decision you described here is one of the most obvious mistakes I can imagine. Stack the WR core and keep the QB who hasn’t been good passing the ball. It makes zero sense. There’s just no way to justify it except with the hope that Fields makes a nearly unprecedented jump in year 4 with another new OC.
-
If Fields is remotely competent next week like he was today, you know they are going to bring him back. Because Bears....
-

Today's win probably means Eberflus is here to stay. I'm still not sold on him but whatever.

Eberflus coming back significantly improves Justin‘s fields chances of staying
-
If you go back through this game thread today while the game was going on, it mostly Tempo talking to himself. His Fields love is insufferable and post after post blaming everyone else throughout the game, even in a win, pointing out everybody else’s mistakes just in case needed, but never Justin’s. It’s insufferable and the reason nobody else really wants to post. I commend Spark for continuing to counter back. It’s Tempo’s Fields’ delusional board and we’re all just living in it. Enjoy!
-
It would be hard to see them repeating the mistake of the previous regime Of spending significant draft capital to draft a quarterback for a lame duck regime.

Fantastic analysis

I was trying to enjoy a couple hours of really good Justin Field play without having to put every possible bad play under a microscope. We get it he’s inconsistent.

It would be hard to see them repeating the mistake of the previous regime Of spending significant draft capital to draft a quarterback for a lame duck regime.
The only move that really makes sense and isn’t a half measure is to move on from the staff and QB. That’s why I expect the Bears to pass on the best opportunity they will have to do that.
They will bring back Eberflus and Fields in ANOTHER show me year, and we can have all the discussions all next year about how the line sucks and there’s a new OC and MHJ is a rookie and all the other excuses you will make.
-
Today's win probably means Eberflus is here to stay. I'm still not sold on him but whatever.
Yeah, it will be a mistake to keep him, but the Bears are the Bears for a reason.
-
I was trying to enjoy a couple hours of really good Justin Field play without having to put every possible bad play under a microscope. We get it he’s inconsistent.
Do you get it? You’ve been arguing against the people saying that for the entire season.
I have put every Fields play under the microscope, the good AND the bad. What your complaint really is is that you don’t think anyone should ever acknowledge when he makes a mistake. You only want discussions about the good plays, not the bad ones - which is how you end up making excuses for a guy week after week and pretending he’s playing better than he is.
He was great today. If he’d been that with any consistency - the EXACT thing I have been saying all season - then we wouldn’t be having those discussions. He has failed to do that.
If they keep him, the odds we’re still having those discussions about Fields a year from now with a new OC and more weapons - the worst case scenario for the Bears - is extremely high.
-
Who is the highly considered QB prospect that cannot enter the draft yet like Williams was last year at this point? I have not heard of anyone (not that that means much).
-
Fantastic analysis
We’ll all wait with baited breath to get your analysis as soon as JT O’Sullivan tells you what it is.
-
And we get it, you’re in love with him…
Childish.
-
If the offense next year is Fields with Moore/McLaurin/MHJ I better not hear one fucking excuse for Fields’ play.
Time to win big if you bet on Fields like that.
-

It’s pretty hilarious that that kind of upgrade in talent wouldn’t obviously be worlds above what he’s had the last two years.
-
Better not…
I expect to. You will keep making excuses for him I have no doubt.
-
Who is the highly considered QB prospect that cannot enter the draft yet like Williams was last year at this point? I have not heard of anyone (not that that means much).
Sanders, Allar, Ewers could all be top 10 picks off the top of my head.
-
It’s pretty hilarious that that kind of upgrade in talent wouldn’t obviously be worlds above what he’s had the last two years.
Then there is no reason whatsoever to make excuses for him right? With that kind of upgrade in talent?
Terry McLaurin and a can’t miss WR with DJ, that’s about the best situation a QB could possibly ask for and it’s what you’re telling me Justin Fields needs to be a consistently above average QB. If they get him those weapons and you’re still making a million excuses for him all the time it’s going to be fucking sickening.
-
Don’t think Joe Burrow was the obvious #1 his junior year. In fact, IIRC he almost came out of nowhere.
-
I expect to. You will keep making excuses for him I have no doubt.
No. Doubt.

PAManJr. That’s exactly what you’ve become.
SoullessGhoulJr you mean

No. Doubt.
That’s why I am the Fields First Fan.

Ok, but none of them are "He would be the 1st pick if he came out this year" guys like Williams was last year.
-
SoullessGhoulJr you mean
No, he’s not a soulless ghoul. Just a meme generator.
-
SoullessGhoulJr you mean
LOL.
-
No. Doubt.
You keep making fun of me and avoiding actually addressing what I’m saying. Going to be disgusting to watch your excuse train again.
I still have some faith that Poles is smarter than to hitch his whole career to Fields though.
-
Don’t think Joe Burrow was the obvious #1 his junior year. In fact, IIRC he almost came out of nowhere.
Very true. But how often does that happen?
I should clarify to ask how often does that happen, where the guy in that position is as advertised and becomes one of the best QBs in the league?
-
My bad for watching guys like JT O’Sullivan, Chase Daniel, and Tim Jenkins break down the All22. I felt it might be beneficial to watch detailed breakdown of the film and be informed. My bad.
-
I promise never to seek detailed expert analysis again. I’ll only consult the HQ2 football forum from now on.

Your entire opinion is parroting guys who like Fields and make excuses for his poor play. That’s all you do every week. You aren’t “informed”. You parrot what someone else thinks and use their credibility as former NFL backups to pretend your opinion matters more than the people who disagree with you (and notably form their opinions from actually watching him play, not just parroting what someone else thinks).
-
Damn didn’t even realize there was football on today

Again, I apologize for watching detailed All22 analysis from multiple sources to help me form an informed viewpoint. It’s really stupid of me not to just come here and see what you and JJ think. I’ll try and do better.

I’ll bet you watched the Ohio State game though

I can’t decide if this post contains more ignorance or arrogance. It’s pretty close.
-
Lol @ “Tempo thinks his opinion matters more than others.” Can’t make this level of lack of self-awareness up.
-
I can only say the case to move on from fields is a reasonable one so many of dozens of times
-
That doesn’t mean I think it’s the correct decision. My OPINION
-
I’ll bet you watched the Ohio State game though
I did not. Was on the road Friday coming back from IL. I didn’t even realize there were some good matchups that day until I got home. Seemed too early for marquee non CFP games.

If that’s “marquee” college football, then CFB really is trash.

Another word for that type of fan is “Bears fan”.
Yeah, I thought it was a pretty cringey embarrassing post.
I still get a kick out of my Caleb joke being “cringe.” Cringe would be posting risqué photos of women that I’m banging for HQ2 to ogle.

Couched.

Couched.

Both QBs have had a lot of time to throw so far
Couched.

Great run from Fields, one of the more obvious holds I’ve ever seen though
Couched.

Correct, it’s pretty much baseline level qb play.
Fields connects on a non first read throw. Couched.

Couched.
You've been Tim Couched.

We more threw it near him :)
But again, very few mistakes like that so far. Best half Fields has played since week 5 IMO
Missed the throw.

He did something good. Surprisingly.

Literally cannot even acknowledge the possibility that Fields might be at fault in one bad play in a game he’s looked great in. No reason can get through to someone that dug in.
Literally cannot acknowledge the line couldn’t block 3 Falcons (Fields changed the protection!).
-
Saw the bad and good back to back there
Couched.
-
Yes you have - the criticism you offered after one of his stinkers was “he didn’t play at a hall of fame level”, that was as harsh as you’d be. Don’t let the truth get in your way though
Lying. Misrepresenting my comments.

This is only 5 pages into a 20 page gamethread.
Yeah, that you have a problem with any of these obvious and factual things I stated while watching the game is pretty much proof of what I've been saying about how weirdly defensive of Fields you are.
Can't even acknowledge a great catch by his teammate because you are so wildly defensive you interpret that as a criticism of Justin Fields.
I love that you thought this was making your point. You couldn't have proven my point more perfectly. Even when I'm complimentary of Fields, if I'm also complimentary of his teammate it's a criticism. Insane shit. Like if you behaved that way about someone yo knew personally, I would find it pretty odd. That you're so insanely defensive of a dude who doesn't know you exist is so, so weird to me.
-
Misrepresentation.
Surely you see I was making fun of you.
Right?

Fun fact: JT O'Sullivan started 30 fewer NFL games than Justin Fields has.
He started 8 games and played in 4 seasons.
-
I absolutely love that you decided to go back through the game thread to prove how unfair and harsh I was on Justin Fields and came up with:
"Really nice throw there to DJ, amazing catch too"
"Both QBs have had a lot of time to throw so far"
"We more threw it near him :)
But again, very few mistakes like that so far. Best half Fields has played since week 5 IMO"
"Sounded like Fields adjusted the protection at the line".
Man, harsh harsh stuff.
I mean, it's a far cry from a couple weeks ago when you lost your fucking mind because a WR "dropped" a tipped hail mary.

You said a few things that weren’t couched. Most of it was.
-
and then went on a rant about how its a huge mistake to roll it back with Fields as soon as the game was over. Cant even enjoy a game thread in which Fields and the Bears played great without having to hear how it’s VITAL we move on from him.
-
But again, very few mistakes like that so far. Best half Fields has played since week 5 IMO"
It’s funny that you don’t see how even when you compliment him, it’s in a backhanded fashion (hasn’t played well since week 5).
-
You said a few things that weren’t couched. Most of it was.
I copied the things you picked verbatim.
That you perceived a slight in any of those is ... pretty ridiculous.
Saying he has time isn't a slight, it's a compliment to his teammates. Saying he made a great throw and DJ made a great catch isn't a slight (you said something very similar about the same play, I'm sure you noticed while hunting for these), it's a compliment for him and his teammate. Saying he adjusted the protection at the line isn't a slight, it was literally a fact - you heard him do it, I'm sure.
Most of the other stuff was making fun of you
-
It’s funny that you don’t see how even when you compliment him, it’s in a backhanded fashion (hasn’t played well since week 5).
.... dude, no fucking way.
You EXPLICITLY agreed with that post in the thread hahahahaha.
Turning a compliment about his play into a slight is .... man, you are something else.
-
Maybe not a slight, but you felt it important that it was pointed out he has time (smart of you to couch it with Heinecke). But I see you.
-
.... dude, no fucking way.
You EXPLICITLY agreed with that post in the thread hahahahaha.

Right, but I’m not the guy saying he hasn’t played well at all since week 5. You are. “No actual improvement.”
-
Maybe not a slight, but you felt it important that it was pointed out ge has time (smart of you to couch it with Heinecke). But I see you.
.. holy shit hahaha
You got me Tempo! When I pointed out that the QBs had time, I was trying to criticize Fields for ... something.
Great detective work dude.
-
Right, but I’m not the guy saying he hasn’t played well at all since week 5. You are. “No actual improvement.”
I'm sure you can easily find the post where I said that, and where I said the thing you quote me saying here.
Right?
-
You’ve taken major umbrage with it multiple times when I say he’s shown improvement and been mostly solid since returning from the injury.
-
You’ve taken major umbrage with it multiple times when I say he’s shown improvement and been mostly solid since returning from the injury.
Well yeah, he's been mostly extremely mediocre since returning from the injury. I definitely don't agree he's been "mostly solid". He had one pretty solid game, a couple average-ish games and a couple solidly below-average games since he came back.
He's shown some improvement from the beginning of the year, which is what I've said every time you've brought it up. But that's an extremely low bar, and he's still not clearing a much higher one all that consistently. Which, again as I've said every time we've ever talked about this, was what we needed to see from him - consistency as a passer. He has not shown it, and even though he was great this week he basically lost the ability to show it this season over the last 4-5 games since he came back.
At the end of the day, the case to keep Fields hinges nearly exclusive on three really good games, with another 'solid' game this year. The other 8 games he started ranged from absolutely awful to just plain "mediocre".
-
Heard like 3 “experts” (what’s that?!) say that Tyler Scott should have had a touchdown or two on Sunday. Yet another example of how Justin doesn’t have adequate help.
