Questions:
1. Will the Illini win and go to a bowl game? (Magic 8 Ball says "LOL @ Illini fans!")
2. Who will be the Illini QB?
3. Will the Illini have any RBs?
4. Will the Illini have any healthy players?
5. Who will go to the game with ThePAMan? The AggressiveSon has a business school networking event in Chicago Sat afternoon and is out! Hmmmm.

Judge Judy, you going to the game? It will be in Champaign....

If you’ve got an extra ticket I’m up for going. I can just meet you in Champaign on Saturday before the game.

Yes, I am.

Unfortunately, I had to turn it down. One day, we'll figure it out and meet up.

What's the point of the timing on this? Doesn't seem appropriate.

Yeah I found it odd as well.

Probably means they’re not playing in the heart of Omaha bowl.

Weird

Is he still doing that?

"Reporters" like Robb, you mean?
Nah. I think he fashioned himself more into 'journalisming'.
-
Both Illinois juniors told reporters Tuesday of their intentions.
This is my final year here," Randolph told 247 Sports on Tuesday. "It's emotional. I've been here for a long time. I'm a senior. I didn't transfer.

good reportering

It's the Covid that allows them to be listed athletically as juniors. They both got an extra year of eligibility due to the NCAA Covid year.
-
Judge Judy, you in for Sat? Where you want to meet?
I also have access to 4.more tickets and another parking pass if anyone is interested.

How much

For the tickets? I think I can get them for $10/ticket. Maybe less! You in?

Nevermind won’t be able to get there in time.

Where’s a good bar to watch a football game in champaign?
-
Aren’t you like the closest thing HQ2 has to boots on the ground in C-U?
No clue what’s even on campus anymore so can’t help you there. Downtown has several decent options. If you like an old school dive bar that a lot of Illini fans hang out in, Pia’s has cold beer and a solid burger.
-

Man up JJ. Put your cup on, if it's not on already, and just go to the game.

JJ and I are going to the game. Looking for spot to watch MI OSU, that will be open, beforehand

Got it. And "watch a football game" should have been a clue.
Nonetheless, put your cup on if it's not on already.

Upon some more research it seems Pia’s has gone downhill since I was there last 4-5 years ago. Tumble Inn might be your best bet.

Which went downhill 40 years ago, but that’s why we love it!
-
Illini Inn opens at 11am
-
Or Illini Inn was going to be my other suggestion since they made it tolerable to watch games there

Ding ding ding

I haven't been to Pias in over 40 years, so I saw it in it's heyday. Lol

We’re here now. They almost didn’t have FOX channel to watch the Michigan-O$U game.
-
terrible start.
-
Kitties get ball at half too.
-
Nw is dominating the line of scrimmage
-
You have to love wasting a time out to argue a non-reviewable play.
-
Things were about to spiral if they didn't convert that 4th. Huge drive.
-
Lunney being Lunney
-
The dumbass tested the secondary 🤣🤣
Nice call Jake
-
Secondary was tested. They passed.
-
17 points in 8 minutes.
-
He's down
-
Chick official blew the call
-
Two minute defense strikes again.
-
Bielema defensive genius!
-
This defense is fucking aids
-
Game is over. Lost 2 more starting dbs at half for game. Taz and scott are done
-
We might be looking for some dbs in the portal.
-

And a defensive coordinator

And a defensive coordinator
Hard to say. After Newton, Randolph, Coleman and Rosiek he hasn't had much to work with.
But I haven't been impressed.
-
That was genius shit by Lunney there
-
Of course
-
After a stop.
-
Those are the things that can keep you home for the holidays.
-
Fuck guys come onnnnnn

Bielema wasting timeouts like he's coaching the Bears.

Ghey

Lucky to have Bielema!

LMFAO
This team doesn't deserve a bowl.

Clown show

We already know Paddock can win a shootout

Get a td here and get another and I'd take a bowl 🤣
-
IW not having a great couple of minutes
-
Strain makes a huge fucking play!
-
No pick please
-
Be nice not to be chasing an extra point here but....
-
Wait til they show the most NU points since .....
-
Sooooo lucky to have Bielema!!!!
-
Get rid of the ball,
Fields Paddock!
-
Casey motherfucking Washington!
-
Good thing chasing that extra point earlier when didn't need to!
-
JFC
-
2 point try was a bad play call wtf
-
Go portal hunting for some defense and two coordinators
And no PAman, the head coach isn't going anywhere yet.
-
I would have run Paddock.
Refs got us again but we were our own worst enemy.
-
They were up 31-28 and forced a punt with 11:19 to go.
Two minutes later it's 42-31 Northwestern.
That's the game right there.
-
Got to see the last 7 minutes on the Fox app. Refs screw Illini on that 2 point try, obvious hold before the pass thrown. When does it end?
4 turnovers leading to 4 NU scores, damned joke.
-
I'm not sure I could have survived an OT loss. On to hoops!

Maybe be can also read a book about not going for two all the time
-
An amazing way to lose the last game of the year to a rival @ home.
At least watching newton was fun. He is probably the best DT Illinois has ever had.
-

Or burning timeouts to argue irreversible calls. Or just burning timeouts in general.

He got away chasing 2 with Indiana. It burned him today and cost a chance at a bowl game

We have the 1 seed from the tourney a few years ago, and last years’ January bowl game to hang our hat on
-
They had guys that will play on Sundays. They were playing in the piss poor Big Ten West division and they still couldn't make a bowl game happen. Odds of the Big Ten being this weak again are very slim. The league's only getting tougher with the West Coast teams coming in.
-
They were perilously close to going 8 and 4 but in true illinois fashion wound up 5 and 7
-
Can’t remember a season with so many gut wrenching losses and/or wild ass wins.
-
Can’t remember a season with so many gut wrenching losses and/or wild ass wins.
it was fun, I was expecting us to be much worse
-
We were our own worst enemy from the beginning to the end.
We played a game with only 1 penalty, holding negated a Newton sack, but easily made up for it by losing the turnover battle 4-2. The turnover difference being 2 tds in 9 seconds.
-

Bielema explains the timeout over the irreversible call saying that if the refs talked the play over the call on the field may get changed.
Same with the holding on the 2 pt conversion.
He also mentions the xxxx game regarding the same issue.
Refs are complimented all the time for talking over the call on the field to get the call right.
Lollinois.

Any of the local dumbfucks in the media ask him why he constantly chases extra points and how that blew the chance for overtime?
Granted, he is not alone in this stupidity.
-

There were 7 minutes remaining when we went for 2. Getting 2 would have put us down 3.
I don't like chasing points but I'm not sure going for 2 with 7 min left falls into the chasing points category.
The no call on the 2 pt try at the end is what finished the season but you still can't leave the game in the hands of the refs.
Auburn probably agrees.

7 minutes way too much time left. Ton of possessions left, as we saw. Under 5, I'd have to think about given how the game was going.

7 minutes may mean you get 1 more possession.
"As we saw" is hindsight.

Iowa game, that is one thing. That game, nope.

I understand your thinking but also understand going for 2 with less than half of the 4th qtr left. Not getting the 2 there is pretty far down my list of issues with yesterday's game.
-
The 2 point conversion argument is pretty trite imo. And doesn’t take into consideration that if you kick the extra point the whole rest of the game might have played out differently because of the timing of everything. Wind blows a different way, coach changes his mind, it all would play out differently. So acting like it would have played out exactly the same way is either disingenuous at worst or kinda silly at best.
-
On the plus side, the cup can be put away. If I don't need it for hoops season and after looking at the 2024 football schedule I don't think I'll need it then either.
-

Except there was no wind. We saw how the game was going. Possessions were quick because both Ds sucked. This is just dumbass football, like the idiot running the Chargers plays, where you shoot yourself in the foot continuously. He's being paid a lot and needs to be better strategically or else may as well have you on the sideline looking at the chart making the decisions
There are only a few things you can really control in game. Timeouts and going for 2 are 2 of them. Just relying on the chart without any context of how the game is going is moronic. He fucked up against Indiana and got away with it. It bit him in the ass yesterday and it ruined a chance to go to a bowl game. That's on him. But yeah, we are lucky to have him.
-
Not buying it. Like MN said it’s really far down the list of complaints considering it happened at 7 min mark. And going for one changes everything down the road versus going for two. Not everything is going down the same way after that. The wind was just one example. You can’t just assume everything else plays out the same once something else was changed.

You can't, which is part of the reason it is stupid to do. Take the point. Go for 2 when it is necessary late in the game.
Of course there was a ton of shit that was, and has been, ridiculous all season: Penalties, playing soft coverage, muffed punts, penalties, blah blah blah. But going for 2 and calling TOs on unreviewable plays are on Bielema and him alone.

Bielema explained the TOs in his post-game and I disagree on the going for 2. If it was PU-Ind and everything was the same I wouldn't question it then either.

Well, it didn't help yesterday and didn't help against Indiana. And the Illini are sitting home and were the worst team in the worst P5 division in college football. Complete breakdown from top to bottom since the games against Purdue and MSU last year.

We disagree on going for the 2 yesterday, so be it. But his explanation of the time-outs made sense, even tho it proved to not help.
We lost a very good rb and the rb room was banged up all year. We couldn't get a run game going and ended up relying on the qbs.
We lost an NFL defensive backfield and our best db was out for the year and we were continually banged up in the db room also.
We lost a DC who had us at the top of the NCAAs in stats and had a decent year at PU. He was a big loss.
We're just not in a reload situation.
-
They played the equivalent of the Bears current last place schedule since Purdue and MSU last year. That it is year 3 of the current regime and Lovie's guys are aging out shouldn't be an excuse, yet here we are.
-
Who’s going to the bowl game? It’s in January, right?
