Can’t wait to get to Lantz arena at 8pm and watch this game! Really excited for this season! Figured I’d just go instead of paying the $15.99/month for shitty B1G+. That’s an unbelievable price 😱

That's a good one, JJ. Lol

😁 I looked it up and realized I was wrong where it was and the time and caved in and bought B1G+ for the two games that’ll be on there 😔

Bad 😔

I figure it amounts to $8/game and I get to watch… Wait for it… you’re not gonna believe I’m saying this… the women’s game tomorrow as well. So overall it’ll be like like $5/game. Might catch some other stuff on there and definitely cancel before the month is over.
-
Bad 😔
I'm not concerned with the announcers. How's the video quality ?

I bought one month so $2.50 per game which is about right

This EIU squad is worse than the one we beat up on in last year’s opener. Should be nothing more than a glorified scrimmage.

Anyone possibly smell the Kiss of Death?

I'm just glad the season is starting!

The Valpo game is on Big10+ too.

11-4 EIU. Wtf?

EIU is a much better team than they were last year. Simmons is getting much better players there now.
-
Awful performance thus far
-
Hoping this is just first game nerves because this is pathetic.
-
Hoping this is just first game nerves because this is pathetic.
I know I stated it above, but Marty Simmons is recruiting well and is really going to turn EIU around in my opinion. Nothing to do with this game, but just in general.
-
Wow that block by Gibbs was impressive
And then Rodgers gets stuffed impressively on the next play lol
-
1/9 from three. 0/3 on free shots.
Sigh.
-
Kids think they are nba players jacking 3s non stop
-
Hamlin schooling Hawkins
-
Looking like last years team.
1-10 from 3
-
DGL bringing it early!
-
Damn Gibbs Ballin out there
-
DGL providing the spark
-
Hawkins looked pissed in the huddle
-
Hawkins arguing and complaining to assistant coach Tim Anderson.
-
Hawkins and Shannon have been bad so far.
-
Helluva pass by DGL to Danja
-
1-13 for 7% on 3’s 😬
-
DGL and Dainja been our best players so far.
-
Nichi is probably creaming himself watching those passes from morietti
-
14-2 run to end the half. Nice.
-
Yeah FT and 3PT shooting are obviously an issue. I can see the 3’s improving, but my God we can’t shoot FT’s.
-
We still can't shoot free throws or threes, I see.
-
And right on queue TSJ hits a deep three to end the half.
-
Obviously happy with the result of that shot but that's really what Brad drew up out of a timeout?
-

Give it to TSJ, clear out, and let him do whatever he wants. I’m cool with it. He’s earned that and is that good of a player. He’s getting the Ayo treatment.
-
Everyone wants to shoot 3s.... Just like last year.
-
Haven’t seen Harmon or Harris yet…
-
Haven’t seen Harmon or Harris yet…
Harmon was in for a minute early iirc
-
I really wish Simmons would lose some weight, it’s difficult for him to even walk. Dude was such an amazing basketball player and to see him like this is sad.
-
3-10 on FT’s. Yikes
-
Now we're finally cooking!
-
TSJ has a really good chance (if we have team success too) to become a legit NPOY candidate. He can just take over games and dominate whenever he wants to.
-
Really impressed with DGL.
-
Really impressed with DGL.
He's asking to take somebody else's minutes if he keeps playing like this.
-
Hawkins gets benched in the 2nd half. Dude needs to learn not to throw a tantrum every time something doesn't go his way.
-
Moretti hit both of his free shots!
-

Starting the game with a brick 3 and a turnover wasn't a good idea
-
He's asking to take somebody else's minutes if he keeps playing like this.
He can shoot where Ty can’t, so he might be getting some of those minutes.
-
Moretti hit both of his free shots!
Should be a starter. And I should get an applaud from Nichi.
-
No Harris today wonder why
-
No Harris today wonder why
He’s been up and cheering like nothing is wrong. It’d be nice if he redshirted and worked on his shot. Kid has a great attitude though, so I don’t see him pouting or transferring unless we Crean’d him.

You would think a 15 year senior would know how to keep his emotions in check.

He’s always been crazy immature. It’s annoying as fuck.
-
Harris in now. Interesting…
-
Harris in now. Interesting…
Never mind, that’s AJ Redd (?), a walk on I guess.
-
This wasn't even fair, Eastern only had 5 players after the halftime...thats not fair at all.
-
Harris in now. Interesting…
They put a walk on in before him did Brad forget he's on the team or is he in the dog house
-
Maybe Robb will ask about the distribution of playing time.
-
DGL will be running point by B1G conference season...he will be in the starting 5. Said it before will keep saying it, the kid is explosive, likes to play defense and rebound and is ultra competitive...we need that edge.
TSJ the #1 best kept initials, will keep taking over games.
Hawkins is working his way out of even being in Round 2 at this point.
Dainja, well he is B1G at least, seems to have regressed.
Goode is bigger than I thought, he will get minutes until he fouls out for being in the "area" at all times.
Rodgers is a pogo stick....would love to see him move to slasher/wing full time actually.
Harmon again looks over matched, the kid is not athletic, can't really play defense, good 6 minute a game transfer?
Domask, seems to always be around the action, not sure that will translate against better teams. He is a good player, just not a difference maker.
-
I really wish Simmons would lose some weight, it’s difficult for him to even walk. Dude was such an amazing basketball player and to see him like this is sad.
Simmons looks like he ate half the team during halftime.
-
They put a walk on in before him did Brad forget he's on the team or is he in the dog house
He's not injured so maybe he was late to warm ups or violated some other rule.
-
Rodgers is trying to be a poor man’s Ben Simmons without the crazy athleticism. He can’t shoot.
-
Love the post game dgl interview, he's bleeding orange and blue gotta love it
-

Yeah could be something like that, glad he's not injured
-

Yeah that was as impressive as his play on the court. Good kid.

That’s awesome!

That’s awesome!
That is great news, we will need him next year for sure.
-
That’s awesome!
Shocking news but ultimately probably the best decision for him. He wouldn't have seen much tic with all the depth and experience at our disposal this year. This gives him the opportunity to get Fletched and work on his offensive game for next year. We're already playing one guy with shooting deficiencies in Ty Rodgers. Can't have two out there.
I will say his energy and tenacity on the defensive side will be deeply missed at times this year.

Such a mature decision by the kid. Especially in today’s landscape of college basketball. He gets it. Looks like DGL might be that spark.
-
Probably will burn it when we need to press someone in the tourney
-
Underwood just said that Harris is redshirting. !!!!!!
Aah well that is good news will do wonders for his game
-
DGL can play. Question is how long UW will stay with Rodgers as DGL develops.
Hawkins had a classic Hawkins head case whiny game. ::)
Saw Anderson pulling him aside and trying to counsel him.
The Harris decision is interesting. Hope it works out.

Have I mentioned that I hate Coleman Hawkins? Because I really can't stand watching him play basketball.
-

He is very childish and his skill set isn’t very elaborate. He can’t dribble or beat his man off the ball and has no other parts to his game. He basically gets his points off hitting his 3 pointers… that’s it.

Very athletic kid with potential who has never developed any consistency to this point.
He shoots 28% for his career from three.
The idea that he can guard multiple positions is a myth.
He is a below average on ball defender.
Agree that he has no iso game and cannot create a shot which is critical in the NBA and increasingly important in college game.
He is not a very good passer. Also over rated there. He dribbles way too high.
He cannot shoot.
Is not a natural scorer.
His biggest weakness is his mental game.
He better get his head and game straight or he will never see an NBA court.
-

He starts the game with a brick 3 and then a turnover in the first 1 min 9 sec and argues with the staff at the 1st timeout and you may get your wishes.
He got 9 minutes after the arguing.
-
he's not the brightest bulb in the drawer that's for sure
-
Honestly he has kind of played to his ranking which was 3 star and 168 nationally on 247.
He is what he is and unless he somehow gets to another level - this is it. A few flashes or a couple great plays and a lot of empty possessions with inefficient shooting and shot selection, bad footwork fouls, and weird decisions on both sides of the ball. He is kind of marginally a net positive. Sure as hell do not want him with the ball or guarding the other team closer at end of game.

He can't be one of the best players on this team. If that happens, then this team sucks. He should be largely complementary.
If he's playing up to 3 star, 168, then he should be playing in the Valley. He shouldn't be one of the go to guys on a Big 10 contender.

I think Domask will be our second best player on the floor consistently. Hawkins is a complementary guy as you say. Probably does better when there are less expectations.
If I were UW I would roll the dice with DGL at lead guard (Rodgers is not a lead guard). Gives us three legit scoring options and threeball threats.
Hawkins can be option 4 and only shoot when wide open, get garbage buckets and run outs. A 7-8 ppg guy on limited shots and touches. Guard somebody and STFU.
Otherwise it will be TSJ and Domask - and hope one of Hawkins, Guerrier, (or Goode off the bench) is making something that night.
Hawkins will need to be out there. Dainja looks like he is regressing.
On another note Moretti looks over matched the more I watch him. Maybe he is tight, but he will not be playing much this year.
-
As a freshman, DGL is likely going to have games he can’t do anything right and just implodes. He played high level competition in HS so hopefully those nights are few and far between, but I’m trying to temper my expectations.
Hawkins is going to have nights he wins us games and nights he tries to fuck it away. I hope Brad has a short leash with him this year so he gets his head right.
I hope the free shot and 3 pt shooting problem is transitory.
-
I don’t give a shit if we make the tourney as long as we shoot 75% from the line.
-

100% on Hawkins. He's a 4-6 player on most high level tournament teams. If he's your 2nd best player and/or trying to play guard, you're in trouble. With our current roster he could be anywhere between 2nd and 10th on any given night.
I'm disappointed in Moretti not being a serviceable backup PG.
I almost want DGL to be penciled in at lead guard just so Rodgers can go back to being a spark off the bench at the 3-4 instead of eating minutes at the 1 early. This is a better rotation IMO than playing Rodgers at the 1:
DGL / Harmon/Harris
TSJ / Goode/Harmon
Domask / Rodgers/Goode
Guerrier / Hansberry/Rodgers
Hawkins / Dainja

Agree with your lineup (minus Harris now) and Custard's thoughts that DGL would have some rough nights the first few months.
But his ceiling is so much higher than Rodgers and he gives us a much more dynamic offense and the team a higher ceiling. He is also much more physical than I thought he would be on D.
He plays hard.
Not sure what is going to happen with Rodgers. I watched him closely on our own shots and he would sprint to the front of rim when the ball went up and TSJ or Domask would drop back to half court to cover the break.
We all know UW commits to certain type of guys and I think Rodgers may be that guy this year. Rodgers had less minutes than Harmon vs Kansas and less minutes than DGL vs EIU, however.
I think Rodgers may have had 2 fouls which required him to sit more in first half.
DGL reminds me a lot of Marcus LoVett with more hops and a little less flash. We have not had a guy like this with such a full skill set offensively in my memory. Not saying he will be a big star but he has a lot of game.
-
Where are all the DGL haters when I stated he would be the lead PG by conference....one game in and the tune has changed.
Our best lineup moving forward will be: DGL, TSJ, Rodgers, Domask, Hawkins (unfortunately) scorers/shooters/rebounders/defense.
Best off the bench: Dainja (by default because Hawkins will have mental issues), Goode, Guerrier, Hansberry, Harmon in that order. Goode can sub in for up to 3 players above, Guerrier can sub in for 3 as well, Hansberry for 1 of them, and Harmon 1-2 as well.

Nobody said he shouldn't be playing more. You don't seem to understand who our coach is. Or basketball for that matter.
Tell us more about how Harris will be our 6th man and how Rodgers will be making 15 footers. Now you want to start Rodgers at the 4?
He is a 10 mpg guy on a good team.
Just a guy.
-
I have only seen the KU game and some highlights. No Matthew highlights for EIU for some reason.
Seems like Rodgers changed his body. Looks slimmer? He had 3 nice drives to the basket against KU.
It's interesting that Buck (and his family) decided he should redshirt rather than transfer. The stated reason is to work with Fletcher to add size and strength. Hopefully, he will work on off ball defense, shooting, and ball handling too. On ball defense is his only apparent basketball skill right now.
Goode and Dain looked bad against KU. I gather they looked better against EIU?
Hawkins looked good against KU. Sounds like he sucked against EIU?

Comprehension or Basketball in general is not your strong points obviously...
Harris was red-shirted after that predictions, so off the hook on the unforeseen actions. I have ESPN, not ESP.
As far as Rodgers, your comments about him probably took about the same 10 minutes to come up with as he will play as a PG by conference season. He will drive INSIDE the lane, and either shoot approximately a 15 footer, you know a free throw (he will make those as often as the rest of the team) LOL.
DGL was predicted by me to be our lead guard by conference (NOT playing more) that wasn't the comment. Hell he will play more simply without Harris as a player who would have gotten some minutes if he hadn't red shirted, playing more is more obvious than your lack of understanding the original comment.
BU can even see and has acknowledged the talent/energy, even BU knows this will happen. He cannot afford to lose DGL after this year for lack of wanting to play a freshamn PG, especially one that is as good as DGL is. If you cannot see it, that's a you issue, but hey you forgot what you didn't even know you forgot.
Keep watching and tune in again when you have learned something, in the meantime I see you down there at the end of the bench....:>)
