If he is open downfield, he needs to read the field and throw the ball to him. He was checking down instead. This really isn't complicated.

No where did I say that Fields had a perfect game. I’m sure he missed a couple guys downfield. And I just posted a video of it. Getsy is PART of the problem though.

No one is saying Getsy is blameless or does not suck. Just that you cannot criticize him for Fields checking down and refusing to throw balls downfield to open receivers.

Yes, he is part of the problem. But he cannot hit a video game controller and make Fields throw the damn ball downfield to open receivers instead of checking down.

Ok, this is progress! Yes. Justin needs to be better. But I think they are putting him in a position where he needs to be near perfect to look good. I’m far from the only person who thinks Getsy had a bad day Sunday.

This is some great analysis IMO. It’s plenty critical of Fields, but also says it’s clear they are coaching some of the aggressiveness out of Fields. Says he doesn’t think he’s being told to “just go rip it.” This is my main point. No one is likely to lose their job this year (maybe Williams if the defense sucks). FIND OUT what the fuck you have THIS YEAR. If Fields gets hit, so be it. Fields has been a touchdown to checkdown QB his whole life. Highly unlikely he just decided on his own to become Checkdown Charlie. Says some of the scheming looks “incompetent.”
