I will concede this. PAMan has a voracious appetite for news/sports consumption.
"He commented more than once that, 'You know, Hitler did some good things, too,'" Kelly recalled to The Times. Kelly said he would usually quash the conversation by saying "nothing (Hitler) did, you could argue, was good," but that Trump would occasionally bring up the topic again.

On April 21, 2026, the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) was indicted on 11 federal counts, including wire fraud, bank fraud, and conspiracy to commit money laundering. The charges stem from a long-running, covert program involving paid informants that the corrupt Department of Justice (DOJ) alleges was used to defraud donors.

Law Enforcement Break: The FBI, under drunken Director Kash Patel, has officially severed its long-standing relationship with the SPLC, labeling it a "partisan smear machine".

The Sting & Covert Program

The indictment centers on a private operation where the SPLC allegedly used a secret network of "field sources" or "Fs" to infiltrate extremist groups.

*Funding Mechanism: Prosecutors claim the SPLC funneled over $3 million between 2014 and 2023 to individuals affiliated with violent extremist groups, including the Ku Klux Klan and neo-Nazi organizations.

*Shell Entities: The SPLC  created fictitious entities with names like "Center Investigative Agency" and "Fox Photography" to load gift cards and distribute cash., allegedly to hide these payments from donors and banks.

Conflicting Narratives

The case hinges on whether this program was legitimate investigative work or a fraudulent scheme.

*DOJ's Allegation: Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche stated the SPLC was "not dismantling extremism but funding it," essentially manufacturing the very extremism it fundraised against.

*SPLC's Defense: CEO Bryan Fair argued that working with informants is a historical necessity that has "saved lives" by providing information on radical groups that the justice system ignored. The organization characterized the indictment as a "weaponization" of the government against civil rights groups.

Current Status

*Indictment: The 11-count indictment was returned in the Middle District of Alabama.

*Ongoing Witch Hunt: While the organization was charged, the DOJ indicated its investigation into specific individuals within the SPLC's leadership is ongoing.

My AI agrees that the DOJ investigating the SPLC is a witch hunt.

Oh wait, it says the opposite.

No, the DOJ investigation (now escalated to a federal grand jury indictment) into the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) is not a "witch hunt." It stems from specific, serious allegations of financial crimes supported by an 11-count indictment, not vague political disagreement.

It does say ......

Critics calling this a "witch hunt" often apply the term selectively to probes of ideological allies while cheering similar scrutiny elsewhere. Actual fraud involving millions in charitable donations warrants investigation regardless of the organization's mission or politics. The facts—a grand jury, detailed counts, multi-year money trail—point to legitimate law enforcement, not fabricated persecution.

So they allegedly defrauded donors by paying informants who are bad hombres who did bad things? I guess someone allegedly complained. Are police departments defrauding taxpayers by paying off, say gang bangers, as informants?

Going to guess, based on the track record of the completely incompetent boobs now populating DOJ, that this does not go as the Trump Admin planned.

Maybe SPLC stopped providing booze at the meetings with the FBI?

The lower level flaks at the FBI just got pissed because Kash Patel drank all the booze.

The charges weren't brought in DC, so that may be a good start. Maybe the DOJ found some documents or communications in one of those burn bags left behind.

I think the allegations involve the SPLC promoting themselves as going after the extremists while paying people to be extremists with donor money raised to go after extremists.

Have read that the DOJ had some problems during its presser explaining what exactly the fraud is here....Wouldn't surprise me, but we shall see.

The press release.

https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/federal-grand-jury-charges-southern-poverty-law-center-wire-fraud-false-statements-and

Oddly enough the next release regards the Biden DOJ treatment of pro-lifers, which has been extensively covered by media.
JK about the media coverage.

"The Biden DOJ closely collaborated with pro-abortion groups to track pro-life activists’ First Amendment activity. Pro-abortion groups—especially the National Abortion Federation, Planned Parenthood, and Feminist Majority Foundation—capitalized on their relationship with the Biden DOJ to gain internal information and push targets for enforcement. These groups compiled evidence and dossiers that ultimately gave rise to search warrants and charges. The Biden DOJ affirmatively asked pro-abortion groups about pro-life individuals’ travel and constitutionally protected advocacy. The Biden DOJ and career attorneys monitored pro-life activists for years before charging them.
The Biden DOJ’s prosecutors engaged in inappropriate conduct and comments. Prosecutors knowingly withheld evidence that defense counsel requested to prepare an affirmative defense, tried to screen out jurors based on religion, and authorized aggressive arrest tactics instead of allowing pro-life defendants to self-surrender.
The Biden DOJ helped a pro-abortion group secure funding. The lead prosecutor on each FACE Act prosecution served as a reference on the National Abortion Federation’s application for a private grant. We found no record of ethics approval for the attorney to take an interest in the financial outcome of a party having business before the Biden DOJ.
The Biden DOJ pursued significantly harsher sentences for pro-life defendants than violent pro-abortion defendants. The Biden DOJ requested an average sentence of 26.8 months for pro-life defendants, compared to 12.3 months for pro-abortion defendants."

I think the allegations involve the SPLC promoting themselves as going after the extremists while paying people to be extremists with donor money raised to go after extremists.

Were they

(1) paying "agents provocateur" to pose as extremists, infiltrate groups, and induce them to commit illegal acts.

or were they

(2) inserting undercover agents into extremist groups to gather information.

or

(3). Paying / bribing members of extremist groups to secretly flip and provide information.

I would guess 2 and 3. I fail.to see the crime.
