My paternal side was here almost 100 years before WWII, my paternal grandmother is a daughter of the American revolution. My great great great grandfather fought with the Illinois Cavalry in the Civil War.

American slave owners were overwhelmingly of British descent. My family fought them.

My grandfather just missed going to WWII, but volunteered to fight in Korea in his kid 20s because he felt bad he didn’t get to go fight the Nazis.

Buried deep in the morning NYT email about illegal immigrants being scared to file their taxes was a bit of good news that Murph and Co will hate:

The big mistake we made was putting the Nips in internment camps instead of the Krauts

People getting larger refunds is not good news. It underscores the horrible financial literacy of our populace that they celebrate giving the federal government an interest free loan. I make sure I owe money in April.

Sadly for a lot of Americans they are so poor with money it actually works out for the best because if they use having withholding that is too high as a forced savings instead of just well, saving
