A surprisingly good performance put in by, of all people, Kevin Garnett.  And Sandler absolutely deserved a nomination.

He's a great actor. He wasn't terrible as Buddy Holly, but it wasn't really a natural fit.

They could make the blond, blue eyed Busey look like the dark haired, brown eyed Holly.

I am not sure he fully  captured the brooding, introspective, artistic side.
