I don't follow college football much at all, but I've seen a whole lot of people comparing Carter to Donald.
Someone that actually follows this closely - if those two guys are at all comparable, why is their production not? For a dude with that kind of hype, Carter's actual production seems very pedestrian to me. Donald had more TFL and twice as many sacks in his first two seasons as Carter has in three. Then as a junior, Donald basically matched Carter's entire career in those stats in one season (same number of TFL, 0.5 less sack) and as a senior he far surpassed Carter's career stats (28.5 TFL Donald's senior year vs. 18.5 in Carter's three years; 11 sacks Donald's senior year vs. 6 in three years for Carter).
Final per-season total for Carter: 6.2 TFL, 2 Sacks.
Final per-season total for Donald: 16.5 TFL, 7.4 Sacks.
I know the SEC's much better than the ACC obviously, but can that explain that massive discrepancy? I'd think Donald was the focal point of the defense too in a way that you couldn't really do with Carter given how much talent Alabama Georgia has.
