Oh the Huggybear/Martin style was in vogue about 20 years ago when players were still indentured slaves.

It is not going to work any longer in the new context of NIL, and the portal.

It is kind of like the NBA where there is a weird fluid power balance between coaches and the star players.
The coaches with high interpersonal skills figure out how to navigate it, and get buy in at least for the playoffs.

UW is not that kind of guy. It will be an anomaly if he ever gets a team engaged enough to go deep into the tourney.
His best coaching job was the Covid year, but they had Feliz who was a total stud and did not allow any pussies and whining from the kids.
