Buchanan makes a great putt for birdie and the Iowa kid matched him. Down 1 with I think 3 holes to go. Also watching some Fed Ex Cup as well.

Have gotten to be decent friends with a couple in the neighborhood. A few months ago I had an Illini hoodie on and she mentioned when she was in college she dated a guy that went to UI and had made the trip back and forth many times. Didn’t think much of it at the time other than the novelty of it.

We all went out together last weekend after we clobbered Michigan and I was wearing the expensive Illini 1/4 zip I bought back when we were still in our Golden Era, so she asked if I’d been back to Champaign lately. Mentioned I was back that way a couple weeks ago, blah blah blah. Got to talking about sports and stuff and turns out the guy she had dated was none other than Illini golf great Dylan Meyer.

so you're saying that both she, and your wife, had aspirations of greatness and had to settle for less

Brian Campbell, former Illini player and very very obscure (fringe) PGA Tour player won The Mexico Open a couple weeks ago. Has played decent since. The Mexico Open is a “slapdick” event, but still a PGA Tour event. Life changing moment for him. Even a lot of people who follow golf closely hadn’t heard of him or barely knew who he was.

Made a good run at $50,000 today. 15th place out of 7,058 lineups. I only had one entry, some guys have up to 150. With slightly better luck could have taken 1st. My guys obviously played well but left a decent amount of points on the table. If Harry Hall putts like he usually does I probably win. 1st “only” won 30k because there was a 1st place tie.
