On what planet does DirectTV give out discounts for renewals? Or should or I ask in what time line? The pre-Att directTV did that.

"Kelly and Tate had a former staffer on that talked about how in the 80’s they studied the demographics and something like 80-90% of the attending fans lived within 60 miles and so they marketed hard to those people and went out and did it in person." -- stolen from elsewhere

Mike White played an exciting brand of football plus not much to do in ECI/CI = go to Illini games. Add in that you could bring in bota bags, pass outs at half time, etc. etc. and people had a good time.

You have to call them up and ask to cancel.  You’ll get sent to the retention dept and they will cut your price to get you to stay.

Box score said 33,669 total attendance.  That is tickets sold not actual butts in the seats.  If there were only 28,000 or so actually there that is really pathetic for a Power 5 opponent, in September, on an 83 degree day.

What's within 60 miles that can be considered Illini country? We've got Champaign, Douglas, Coles, and Moultrie counties. To some extent Edgar, DeWitt, and parts of Macon, McLean, Livingston, Ford, and Iroquois.

I fucked off DirecTV a couple years ago and went with Hulu. I don't watch a ton of TV, but Hulu has what I need mostly. Also told netflix to fuck off after their last price hike and now I get e-mails every week trying to offer it back at a lower rate, I think $9.99/month. Netflix' content got pretty stale.

Yeah anyone that doesn’t keep the promo deal they joined with is getting ripped off.  You have to threaten to cancel everytime your promo gets close to expiring.  I think some people don’t want the hassle of calling in so they just pay regular price but you don’t have too.

I did that for years. Since ATT took over, they said bye. And, oh, go to the UPS
 store and send us our equipment or we will charge your credit card.

Basically, they told me I had used up my retention bonuses. I know others who had the same experience.

No shit. I never had that issue, but I wasn't with them long after they were acquired by AT&T. I think I had been a DirecTv customer for about 15 years. Never broke any of their equipment, hardly ever called for service aside from a few remotes that crapped out. My only real gripe was the price and if it rained at all, I'd lose service.

One thing I’d definitely change is move the student tickets out of the North End Zone.  Those seats suck.  If I was a student now, I wouldn’t want to go to the game only to get stuck in the end zone.

When I was in school 99-04, all the Greeks had blocks of tickets.  And also regular student tickets could be bought and they’d all be pretty good seats. Around the 20-40 yard line of the East Balcony.  So there was an incentive for students to go bc we had first access to pretty good seats.   But it would have sucked to be stuck in the north end zone if it was around back then. And back then the cheapest tickets were always horseshoe.

So if you want to get students to the game, don’t give them the worst seats in the house
