I was trying to remember the yrs Florida vs Florida went to bowls. I remember going to stuff for them but maybe it was pre stuff. Those games were the best back then. Was def when I was in high school.

I think there’s a difference you’re not really seeing here. Bielema had been coaching his team for a full year when he said thst, right? He’s gotten to know the kids and spent a full season plus coaching them. I think Deion was trying to motivate them that if they want to stay they need to up their game. Don’t really care for the way he said it, but I think it’s less crappy when he doesn’t know any kids on the roster, and hasn’t coached them. He also barely makes sense. Don’t care for the portal threat, but I think there is a difference if you’re giving an introductory speech. He’s basically saying “you’re in or you’re out.”

I’m not sure how Prime Time will do in CU, but it will be interesting.

I don’t mind the “you’re gonna have to work harder, up your game. In or you’re out” rah rah speech, but I don’t care for the “better hit the portal” angle. In the end, I didn’t go to CU and don’t have any affiliation with them. So I’m not as concerned about what their coach says. While I’m admittedly not a big U of I football fan anymore, I do still want to see them successful and well represented.

Guess I was wrong, Bielema said that year 1, but I do think it was said in season to the media (which is worse IMO than saying it to your players in an introductory team speech). Regardless, I care a lot more about what happens in Champaign than Boulder.

Folks around here a fine with the "portal" challenge.  It's not like there's much talent to leave anyway.  A 2025 WR 5 Star already changed his commitment from A&M to CU.

I’m not sure if Deion will work at Colorado, but if he does good enough there to get the Florida State job eventually, he could build a brand there similar to what Calipari had at Kentucky for a long time. 

This guy absolutely can sell ice to eskimos. He reminds of Principle Joe Clark from Lean on Me that appeals to parents,with the present day bravado that players gravitate too.  If you put him at Florida State and the ability to rally the alums to pay the players, that’s a combo that would be hard to beat.

A lot depends on who he gets as coordinators for ultimate success, but as a front man for your program it’s hard to deny the grass roots enthusiasm he brings.  Very similar to Elon Musk and Trump.  Lot of cult of personality here.  I like it.
