The Virginia county is awarding $50,000 from the Department of Human Service budget to a new grant. That grant will give between 25 and 30 families up to $2,000 in direct financial assistance, according to a county board agenda document from Sept. 1.

The grant, administered by local nonprofit Arlington Thrive, is designed to help families whose primary wage-earner has been detained by federal immigration enforcement or deported.
